Bio

Amy Acker is an American actress best known for her roles in the sci-fi television series Angel: as Winifred "Fred" Burkle (seasons 2-4) and as Illyria (season 5).

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Acker is the daughter of a lawyer and a housewife. She studied ballet dancing for 13 years before heading to the Southern Methodist University where she studied Fine Arts and earned her BFA in acting.

With a love for theatre, Amy studied at the Undermain theatre in Dallas, and starred in productions of The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing, earning the Therese Raquin Award for one of her star performances.

After college, Amy pressed her luck and moved to New York City were she quickly landed leading roles in the independent features The Emergency Specialist, opposite Ged Dickerson, and The Accident.

Soon after she completed both films, Amy moved to Los Angeles.

Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, Amy landed a role in Groom Lake, an independent feature written and directed by William Shatner.

After a reading for Angel, Amy nailed the role of Fred and was cast as a series regular, joining the main cast for season 3.

During the hiatus period between the third and fourth seasons, Amy worked on the film Catch Me If You Can opposite Leonardo di Caprio, and starred as Kathy Kersh in the TV movie Back To The Batcave: The Misadventures Of Adam And Burt, about the making of the sixties Batman TV series.

Since Angel came to the end of its run, Amy took the female lead of Jill in the independent feature, The Novice; lent her voice to the character of The Huntress on the popular cartoon Justice League; and guest starred in Supernatural.

She also had a recurring role on the TV series Alias, as Kelly Peyton.

In 2003 Amy was married to James Carpinello and in 2005 they had their first child, Jackson.
