Amazing Race Asia Bio

Meeting again after being in school together was the magic touch for Melody and Sharon, who discovered that despite their differences, they had a connection. These two good friends are now almost inseparable, so taking on The Amazing Race Asia was a natural thing to do

Melody and Sharon (from Singapore) were schoolmates, once, when they were in tertiary education. They didn't stay in touch, though.

Some eight years later, they bumped into each other and discovered that they had a connection, even though they are quite different. These two are proof positive that difference can be overcome.

"Our relationship is very simple - we're good friends," says Melody.

Unlike some of the other teams on the show, these two ladies are really quite different, and even though they are so different, they still manage to be single-minded, at least on the subject of The Amazing Race Asia.

They talk passionately about the need for focus, about their determination, and how their shared faith (both of them are Christians) is keeping them strong.

This is all quite unusual, since their personalities are quite distinct.

Melody describes herself as exuberant and excited, and finds that Sharon helps to tame that wildness. By nature, Melody is an extrovert with definite outdoorsy tendencies. She loves sports, but at the same time she's quite easy-going and is happy to go with the flow.

She can be quite passionate at times, a trait that she harnesses for her work as an actress and host. She is a familiar face to most Singaporeans, having appeared on local television, as well as having acted in a local movie.

Sharon is quite different - much more corporate in her outlook and is used to working in an office environment. She works in human resource, and jokingly refers to herself as an office slave.

Sharon is used to a much more structured environment, where order rules, and where structure is paramount. She's particularly used to having things go a certain way, which means that the two of them had to learn quite a bit about each other along the way - and will certainly have to learn much more in order to make this work.

They agree on a few things, particularly that their aim in The Amazing Race Asia is to do the best that they possibly can while staying focused and dynamic and while trying to have some good clean fun. This amazing duo will bring quite a lot to the game, because each of them has a different set of strengths.

"We represent a lot of different sides, and together we have quite a lot of good qualities," says Melody.

"As a team we are focused and mindful of the rules, and we are here to have some fun," says Sharon.

The two women admit that they have no clear idea of what their weaknesses might be, only that they might come up in the course of the game.

But there is no doubt at all what their strength is.

"Our biggest strength is our belief that we can do this, and that we have God behind us," says Sharon, and the conviction in her voice is quite clear.
