About TVSA

TVSA currently has 143106 registered members.

Introduction

TVSA is an independent television website that provides viewers with a “TV companion” - a place to discuss, read about, be kept up to date on and relive their viewing experience.

The site covers all of the channels and TV platforms available to South Africans and boasts the world's largest database of South African shows and actors. South Africa's television channels all have their own websites but before TVSA there was no central place for TV-lovers to gather and share their passion for the silver screen, in a total TV environment.

The site features daily highlights and premieres, editorial, blogs, message boards, press releases, teasers, show and actor pages, image and video galleries and much more.

TVSA members can set-up social profiles, rate shows and actors, review shows, message other TVSA members, post on the message boards and create their own blogs.

TVSA aims to keep the television experience alive long after the credits have run their course. The site is also a tool for channels and broadcasters to make use of in order to remain dedicated to providing the best possible entertainment for South Africans.

TVSA Ratings

To this end we developed the TVSA Ratings - our own ratings system, calculated using the Bayesian average which allows readers/viewers to rate two crucial aspects of television:

Shows
Actors

1. Shows

Readers/viewers can rate any South African or international show in the TVSA database on a scale of 1 - 10, thereby giving channels crucial information about which shows are being enjoyed.

If a show has an average rating of 9, channels will know to acquire more of the same. If a show has an average rating of 2 it probably shouldn't be repeated. Ever.

2. Actors

Rating actors is a highly subjective thing, but as television-lovers we must insist on the best possible actors being employed to entertain us.

Blogs

TVSA offers readers the opportunity to blog about any aspect of television they like. Some bloggers follow weekly reality shows and drama series while some cover the soapies - any sort of TV blog is welcome on TVSA.

The site is a communal magazine which also offers bloggers the opportunity of having their blogs featured on the TVSA homepage.

TVSA Blogs Homepage

Bloggers are also welcome to blog about their other interests including celebrities, movies, sport as well as personal topics. Blogs on all topics can be found on the TVSA Blogs Homepage.

Message Boards

The TVSA Message Boards provide further encouragement of reader opinions about all shows and aspects of TV. Every show and actor available on TVSA has an associated Message Board which means that every show and actor can be spoken about.

Cutting edge technology

The site is custom-built on our own proprietary CMS platform and as such is completely unique. It's designed using responsive web which provides a fluid, optimal browsing experience across a wide range of devices including PCs, mobile devices and tablets.

For example, there is no mobi site - the site automatically resizes to the device you are viewing it on so that viewers can be kept up to date and chat wherever they are.

Conclusion

Most importantly TVSA is designed to entertain and inform TV-lovers. This ... is TVSA. We hope you enjoy the show.
