Malan Breton is a Taiwanese-born American fashion designer best known to television audiences as a contestant on the third season of the reality competition television series Project Runway.

He is currently the designer and creative director of Malan Breton, Malan Breton Fantôme, Malan Breton HOMME and Malan Breton Bridal Collections.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Malan traveled the globe as a child, living in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, California, Hawaii and elsewhere.

Named as one of 12 new designers to watch for on the New York runway by Women’s Wear Daily in February 2005, Malan has been designing since the age of 11.

Inspired by a friend, one of America's foremost couturiers, he decided to create his own line drawing on the vast influences and experiences of his life.
Malan has also been a part of the entertainment industry since an early age, learning his craft from costume mistresses along the way.

He has appeared in theatre, film, and television, worked as a professional model and has danced with Paula Abdul and others. His voiceover work can be heard on ESPN and ABC.

A self-trained designer, Malan’s influences stem from Asia, Australia, Europe, and Hollywood. He has designed wardrobes for Megu restaurant and has a growing clientele with a strong visual esthetic. He is inspired by Arnold Scaasi, Adrian, and Alexander McQueen, among others.

Breton was nominated for a 2011 WGSN Global Fashion Award and in January 2014 was named number 24 of the top 100 most popular people from Taiwan currently working in American television by IMDB.com. In April 2014 he was voted by Ranker.com the 24th most famous person from Taiwan for his work in fashion, etc.

Malan Breton has dressed celebrities including Keith Carradine, Lana Del Rey, Alan Cumming, Scarlett Johansson, Kerry Washington, Michael Buble, Martha Plimpton, Minnie Driver, Kylie Minogue, Ariana Grande, Ricki Lake, Daniel Craig, Nikki Blonsky, Katrina Bowden, Kathy Lee Gifford, Desmond Child and Nolan Gerard Funk.

His fashions have noted mentions on the Oscar, Grammy, Cannes, Golden Horse and other red carpets around the world, also dressing 2013 TONY awards winner Jerry Mitchell on his winning night.

To cater to his international clientele, Breton opened the first flagship store in NYC's East Village, in 2007. Known for designing the look of NBC's game show Minute to Win It, for which he was nominated for a 2011 WGSN Global Fashion Award.

Breton has also lent expertise in the industry to OK! Magazine, Cosmetic Executive Women, Australia's Next Top Model, The Today Show, Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt, Princeton University, Dallas Morning News, Bravo TV, MTV’s Music Awards, Project Runway, CBS News and countless other press, media and educational outlets.

Breton's collections have been featured in numerous media outlets around the world. He was the subject of a six-part series on Bravo TV titled "The Malan Show", which followed the process of making it in America as an independent designer.

Malan currently lives between New York city and Paris.
