Bio

Mogau Paulina Motlatswi is a South African actress best known for her role as Mapitsi in the SABC1 youth drama series turned soap opera Skeem Saam.

She was born in Limpopo close to Lebowakgomo and moved to Johannesburg where she attended Piet van Vuuren Primary school in Brixton, excelling at athletics, cross country and netball.

She went to high school at St. Mary's in Waverly where she took drama, history and geography up to matric. Her favourite subjects were dramatic arts and history.

She was a weekly boarder and loved the experience and went on to study Audiovisual Communication at the University of Johannesburg.

Landing the role of Mapitsi in Skeem Saam was her first achievement in the industry.

When Mogau was young she wanted to be a lawyer, then a radio personality. That dream changed when she learnt about film and theatre, now she ultimately wants to be an impactful, amazing director.

Edwin Cameron is Mogau's inspiration as "he is the most amazing man I have ever met, and his success is something I would like to aim for. He is respected worldwide and has a heart of gold.

"My grandmother Sophie Kekana, the strongest woman alive is also an inspiration, she is very strict and we didn't see eye to eye but it took a lot for her to take care of the family as she did and continues to do."

Mogau is terrified of failure and scared of frogs. She is inclined to be short tempered and a tad stubborn. She gets angry at people who still believe that men are superior to women.

In her leisure time Mogau listens to music and spends time with those she loves. She enjoys listening to Yfm. Vusi Kunene, Jamie Bartlett, Robert Whitehead, Xolile Tshabalala, Leonardo Di Caprio and Meryl Streep are Mogau's favourite movie stars.

Mogau's only regret is one she would like to share with other youth: "I regret not working to my fullest potential in school, it is important later in life."

In 2014 she had a guest starring role on the SABC1 AIDS drama Soul City.
