Rupert Evans is an English actor best known for his work in television, particularly the mini-series Paradise Heights (2002), The Palace (2008) and Emma, in 2009.

He also had a starring role as Godwyn, a handsome and narcissistic monk in Kingsbridge Priory alongside his uncle Prior Anthony who takes direction from his scheming mother Petranilla and always favours the spiritual over the practical, in the television miniseries World Without End.

Evans has appeared in a wide range of film, television and theatre productions. His film credits include Agora, directed by Alejandro Amenabar and starring Rachel Weisz, Hellboy, directed by Guillermo Del Toro and Arritmia with Derek Jacobi, amongst others.

In 2011 he completed a further two films: Incident at Sans Asylum, directed by Alexandre Courtes and Elfie Hopkins starring alongside Ray Winstone and Jaime Winstone.

Television credits include The Little House for ITV (leading role), Jane Austen's Emma for BBC (leading role), The Palace in which he played the series lead, King Richard IV for ITV, Fingersmith (series lead) for BBC, North and South for BBC, Sons and Lovers in which he played the series lead and Rockface (series lead) for BBC.

Theatre credits include Life Is A Dream, directed by Jonathan Munby at the Donmar Warehouse, Romeo & Juliet and King John for The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in which he played the title role of Romeo and, in King John, the Dauphin for which he was nominated for The Ian Charleson Award, Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Charlie Westenra again at the Donmar Warehouse, Psyco-geography and His Mighty Heart at The Bush theatre, Breathing Corpses at The Royal Court and Sweet Panic in London's West-End Duke of York's theatre.
