Bio
Eddie Marsan is an English actor best known for his starring film roles as Red in Hancock (2008) and as Inspector Lestrade in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, in 2011.
He also has a starring role as Ray's brother Terry, a former boxer who has developed Parkinson's disease from too many blows to the head, in the television drama series Ray Donovan.
Marsan has established a diverse acting career over the years with a wide breadth of roles across film, television and theatre.
He has won two British Independent Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor for the films Vera Drake and Happy-Go-Lucky, for which he also won the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was also nominated for an Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actor for The Disappearance of Alice Creed.
Some of his most notable film credits include Snow White and the Huntsman, Jack the Giant Slayer, War Horse, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Hancock, Mission: Impossible III, V for Vendetta, Miami Vice, The Illusionist, 21 Grams and Gangs of New York, among others.
In television, Marsan has appeared in numerous British series such as Thorne: Scaredy Cat, Criminal Justice, The 39 Steps and Little Dorrit, among others.
