Bio

Callan Mulvey is a New Zealand-born Australian actor best known for his television roles as Bogdan Drazic in Heartbreak High (1996-1999), as Johnny Cooper in Home and Away (2007-2008) and as Brendan 'Josh' Joshua in Rush, from 2008-2011.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Callan moved with his family at the age of eight to Sydney, Australia. He got his first big-break in the acting world with his lead role of Drazic in the hit ABC television series, Heartbreak High.

After over three years with the show, Mulvey decided to diversify and extend his acting range with a variety of roles in both television and film.

Following a string of guest roles in All Saints, Pizza, Rubicon and the American series Beastmaster, Callan landed his first leading-man role in the feature film Thunderstruck.

He was involved in a famous plot line from 2006-2007 in the long-running Australian series Home & Away, followed by appearances in Channel 9's McLeod's Daughters and Sea Patrol.

This consequently led to his starring role as gang-lord Mark Moran in the Nine Network's international hit Underbelly, in 2008.

In 2008 he was cast in Network Ten's Rush, for which he was nominated for a prestigious Australian Film Institute Award and in 2009 was nominated for a Most Outstanding Actor Silver Logie.

Mulvey was injured in a serious car accident in 2003, in a head-on collision at 100 km/h. He was trapped in the vehicle for almost an hour until he could be freed from the wreckage.

The mid section of his face collapsed, an incision was made from ear to ear over the top of his scalp, his face "pulled down" and 17 titanium plates were then inserted to repair the fractures to his face and jaw.

His left knee and ankle were badly fractured and he lost vision in one eye.
