Bio

Anrich Herbst is a South African actor best known for his television roles as Wimpie van Tonder in the TV1 sitcom Orkney Snork Nie (1989-1992) and as Duncan Haines on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo, from 2002-2003.

In 2011 he starred in the kykNET drama series Hartland.

Orkney Snork Nie was his first major role - he was 14 when he auditioned for the role and 15 when shooting began.

After matriculating he joined the M-Net soapie Egoli: Place of Gold in 1991, playing the role of Dewald Vorster - the youngest son of the original core family of the soap, the Vorsters.

His character was the son of Walt Vorster (Gé Korsten) and Isabeau Vorster (Mimi Coertze) who got involved in a sect with Bienkie. He later fell in love with Jane (Catriona Andrew), whose husband murdered him.

He later landed a lead role in the series Voete van Goud, playing the role of Dewald Human, an ambitious young athlete.

Anrich also frequently collaborated with Jan Scholz, working on such TV series as Arsenaal and Die Vierde Kabinet.

In 2002 he joined Isidingo in the role of Duncan Haines, brother of Lee (Ashley Callie), son of Barker (Robert Whitehead) and secret lover of Cherel de Villiers (Michelle Botes) - who later murdered him in a 2003 episode.

In the 2004 kykNET drama series Plek van die Vleisvreters he played the role of Chris Roux, an idealistic game ranger who turned out to be an undercover policeman investigating a murder on a game farm.

In 2008 he made two guest appearances on the British drama series Wild at Heart, and began playing the role of Jean Jordaan, a pilot, on the kykNET soapie Villa Rosa.

Anrich has also played minor roles in the feature films The Long Run (2000) and Catch a Fire (2006).

Aside from his acting work, Anrich is also a gospel singer and achieved a diploma in training from the Rhema Bible School in 2001.

He once dated ex-7de Laan star Elma Postma and once had to rush her to hospital after she was bitten on the hand by a lion, in early 2006.
