Last week Thursday saw me hitting the streets to grace the launch of Kelly Khumalo’s new reality show Rolling with Kelly, which debuted this past Sunday on e.tv @ 18:30. Only a few celebs turned up, mostly from etv shows and thank goodness the place wasn’t full of screaming randoms wanting to take pics with everyone in the venue including bartenders.
African time took centre stage again as e.tv pips only started the launch an hour later - not that it bothered me 'cause the bar was open for any drink except spirits. Some women’s make up must have melted during the long wait though …
MC’d by Stacey Holland from e.tv’s morning breakfast show Sunrise, her captivating presence fuelled by the mini orange number she pulled didn’t do much of a trick as we were all impatiently anticipating sneak-peaks of this over-advertised show and luckily we were the first to be presented with 15-minutes of the first episode.
As usual, creamy speeches from e.tv management were delivered, at least they were short. Kelly then took to stage with some of the material from her new album: “The Past, The Present, The Future” due to hit the shelves on the 21st of September. Before I forget ... over the years Kelly's been compared to Khanyi, Chomee and others - one thing for sure that’s different about her is that she's very talented . Did I tell you that she’s releasing a book as well? So she is going at it full force! Reality show, new album and a book, best things always happen in three's they say, right?
Kelly’s BFF Lucia Mthiyane was there, it wouldn’t have been a full show without her. She is so full of life, this woman ne! You just can’t help but like her.
Kelly’s younger sister Zandi who was on the Crux Gospel Star singing competition held by SABC 1’s Sunday religious show Crux was there looking damn GOOD - actually she resembles Kelly a lot. Zandi was in the Top 10 (that’s how good she is) with Kelly and since then she’s been living in Kelly’s shadow since she made it before her. I nagged her about this and she's admitted that she's working on something of her own! Go Solange'!
Rhythm City’s beautiful sirens Nokuthula Ledwaba and Amo Chidi were there pushing everything fab. And they were super glad to take a snap for us. Damn, Amo Chidi is HAWT! Period!
Nokuthula rocked some cool shoes, I just had to take a snap for the TVSA ladies!
Fallen Idols Top 18 hopeful Dumi was there looking nerdishly cool. Nice fun oke he is. I’ve seen the people you hang with Dumi, if you want success in this industry keep them. Don’t say I didn’t advise you.
Little Itumeleng from Yo TV (remember her? she did a lot of food on Yo tv) is all woman now and she's currently acting on Rhythm City. She showed face too, cleavage out and hair all weaved up. When did she grow up?
Managed to grab Akhumzi Jezile from a crowd for a picture, although it's blurry it still shows the nigga was happy to take a shot for us. Such a bubbly dude.
Talking about bubbly, Thami Kotlolo of Feather Awards was there too, and by the look and sound of things, he is one of Kelly’s BFF’s. He was just as happy to strike a pose for TVSA.
Thanks e.tv for inviting us and do remember us again at the season's exodus!
