The search for a new MTV Base VJ is
on.
The channel has announced a three-city search for a new Video Jockey to become one of the faces of the channel.
The search first launched in 2005 and was won by
Sizwe Dhlomo who's subsequently become a well-known face on the South African and African music and entertainment scene.
Auditions for this year's search will be happening in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg in July, starting on Saturday the 14th.
Castings will be judged by MTV Creative Director Tim Horwood who'll be joined by LIVE presenter
Bonang Matheba, Hip-Hop star
HHP, TV presenter and DJ
Azania Mosaka.
The auditions and process of the search will air weekly on MTV Base from Tuesday 7 August 2012. The grand finale will take place in October 2012.
What is MTV Base looking for?

“A passion for youth culture, an engaging personality and lots of energy and confidence are just some of the key attributes that we are looking for but the most important quality required in an MTV Base VJ is that they should have the ability to communicate with and connect to our audience.”
Who can audition?The MTV Base VJ Search is open to South Africans aged between 18-25, who speak fluent English and who have no criminal record.
Prior presenting or TV experience is not required.
Applicants must be available to participate in the elimination phases of the competition between 24-28 July 2012.
Audition dates and venuesThe auditions begin in Durban and Cape Town simutaneously and then move to Jozi.

Registration opens at 9:00 am in each location. Auditions are on a first come, first served basis so applicants are encouraged to arrive early.
What will you do at the audition?
During the course of your audition, you'll be asked to do the following:
- Give a short presentation about yourself.
- Review your favourite artist and your favourite music video by this artist.
- Introduce a music video to viewers.
- Improvise and be yourself as the channel wants to see what
you are about.
You're encouraged to think about and prepare the above ahead of your audition.
