Season 1

Eksê: Let's Talk with Masechaba Lekalake is a South African talk show produced by Ochre Moving Pictures and Masechaba Media which consists of three friends who get together after work to chat about pertinent social issues that they come across in their daily lives, while getting the opinons of viewers through vox pop interviews on the eKasi streets.

The series premiered on OpenView HD's eKasi+ channel on Tuesday 15 October 2013, at 18h00; and the following day on e.tv at 10h00.

eKasi+ brings you a frank talk show that deals with social issues that are often whispered over the township fences in Eksê: Let's Talk with Masechaba Lekalake.

The show is anchored by television personality Masechaba Lekalake together with two friends who get together after work to chat about the issues that they come across in their daily lives.

Masechaba, comedian Tol Ass Mo and socialite Refilwe Modiselle channel their opinions and strong personalities into conversations that are enriched by their own personal experiences.

Another dimension to the show is the street vox pops that are facilitated by field presenter Phillip Malepa, better known as the Pied Piper of eKasi. Malepa roams the streets looking to get viewers' thoughts on topical issues.

The first episode of the series dealt with marriage and what necessitates taking this big decision. Masechaba's friend had been dating a man for eight years and three years prior, they moved in together.  She fell pregnant and wanted her boyfriend to marry her, which begged the question: is marriage still necessary?

The second episode was inspired by a tweet from Will and Jada Smith's son Jaden who stated that "if everybody in the world dropped out of school we would have a much more intelligent society...  School is the tool to brainwash the youth... Education is rebellion..."

While Jaden was fielding the backlash, the show kickstarted a local debate on whether or not education should decide your future. The third episode dealt with an issue that has been part of most black South African's lives: absent biological fathers.

These and other topical issues are dealt with in a serious yet accessible tone.

Eksê: Let's Talk with Masechaba Lekalake is produced by Ochre Moving Pictures and Masechaba Media and is recorded at Shine Studios in Braamfontein. uZanenkosi is the series producer with executive producers Stan Joseph, Pulane Boesak and Luxury Msiza.

It was the first original series to air on eKasi+, starting on the evening that the channel went live in October 2013.
