Season 6

The Doctors is an American daily syndicated talk show created and produced by Phil McGraw and his son Jay McGraw as a spin-off of Dr. Phil and is the first talk show to be spun off from another talk show spin-off, as Dr. Phil itself is a spin-off of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

The concept, which originated on Dr. Phil, mostly focuses on health and medical issues, as a team of medical professionals discuss a range of various health-related topics and answer questions from viewers who are too embarrassed to ask their own doctors.

The show premiered in the USA in syndication on 8 September, 2008.

The Doctors premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Wednesday 1 April 2009, at 17h00. It moved to M-Net Series Reality when the channel debuted in July 2013. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 6 premiered on M-Net Series Reality on Monday 7 October 2013, at 19h30. New episodes broadcast on weekdays until 21 October, when the show moved to weekdays at 17h30. It moved again to weekdays at 16h30 from Monday 2 December, 2013.

Season 6

The Emmy Award-winning daytime talk show The Doctors returns for its sixth season offering the latest in health and wellness information in an entertaining and engaging fashion.

Joining the team of co-hosts this season are three new medical experts who will serve as recurring co-hosts: urologist Dr. Jennifer Berman, board-certified family medicine physician and sexologist Dr. Rachael Ross and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist Dr. Ian K. Smith.

The premiere week also features an exclusive interview with Chaz Bono, who returns to the show to reveal his incredible weight-loss transformation after The Doctors helped get him started on a new healthy regimen last season.

When he first visited the show last year, Bono weighed 250 pounds, with dangerously high cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, all of which are now in a healthier range.

Drs. Stork and Ordon sit down with the activist and writer, to talk about the challenges and milestones in his journey to take control of his health and drop the excess weight after a life-long struggle with his body image.

The season six premiere episode features some of the craziest health news from around the world, from breast milk-flavoured lollipops, to the 13-pound baby delivered naturally, and apartments where your rent is determined by your weight.

The Doctors also speak to a pregnant woman who was struck by lightning and a young girl who fought cancer by undergoing a radical surgery which removed part of her leg and turned her foot into a knee.

The Doctors has been heralded for providing viewers with entertaining and easily-digestible information that is essential to health and well-being.

The show will continue its signature segments, including "TMI Tuesday," featuring stories and topics normally too embarrassing for discussion, and the "Friday News Feed," where the doctors and their guests discuss the latest health news and trends from around the world.

The Doctors premiere week will also feature the following segments:

Detecting Diseases Before They Strike
The Doctors discuss the importance of early detection of diseases, including the incredible story of Tarek El Moussa from HGTV's "Flip or Flop" who found out he had thyroid cancer when a viewer contacted him after noticing a lump on his throat.

New FDA Drug For Weight Loss
Dr. Berman and special guest Dr. Sharon Orrange engage in a vigorous debate about the health implications and safety of the new FDA-approved drug for weight loss, Qsymia.

Tamera Mowry-Housley's Big Secret Revealed
Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley visits the show for the Friday Newsfeed and brings some news of her own, as she makes a very personal announcement and later asks The Doctors for advice.

Is Fashion Glorifying Drug Abuse?
The Doctors discuss a new line of clothes featuring the names of controversial prescription drugs. Does it glorify drug abuse, or is it simply an issue of free speech? One retailer defends their choice to sell the clothing line and The Doctors respond.

About the Show

From the creative team behind the long-running series Dr. Phil comes The Doctors. For the first time on daytime television, viewers have a source of reliable medical and health advice, dispensed daily by a distinguished panel of four "on-call" professionals.

These experts focus on the real-life experiences of the show's guests and then weigh in, disseminating valuable information about health, medical care and drugs in a compelling, informal, easy-to-understand and entertaining format.

The show features on-set medical procedures, either directly in front of the studio audience or in its backstage examining room, and off-site "house calls".

This medical dream team will be the "must-go-to" source for information on the latest medical breakthroughs and cutting-edge practices and procedures, providing a valuable resource for viewers who might not have access to the most updated medical advances.

Four medical practitioners, with four different specialties, five days a week, discuss what people need to know to live their best lives. If it matters to you, it matters to The Doctors.

Taped in front of an audience in Hollywood, The Doctors is produced by Stage 29 Productions and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Jay McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patricia Ciano and Dr. Phil McGraw are executive producers.
