The series is inspired by the comics of Ivorian writer Marguerite Abouet and French author/illustrator Mathieu Sapin. About Phophi, from her bio for the show: Phophi began her career in the arts at the age of 10 with hip hop dancing at Ambitions Dance Studio and pageantry modelling with LeruMoke Models. She's currently in Grade 11 at the National School of the Arts, specialising in Dramatic Arts and Fashion Modelling. “My teacher constantly mentions how he believes I was chosen before I was born to be in the dramatic arts industry. My passion for drama is what keeps me going, this is a passion that goes beyond the oceans. "My dream is to one day be directed by John Kani and work alongside amazing actresses like Connie Chiume and Marsai Martin,” she says. Her motto is: "Life is tough but so am I." She doesn’t believe in giving up, but instead she believes in working hard so you can fight against the obstacles of life. "The biggest crown I will ever wear is my talents. My goal in life is to wear and shine with Crown so I can inspire every African child to follow their dreams."
