Nomuzi exits MTV: new VJ search to launch soon

A shoutout to everyone who'd like to be a VJ on the MTV channels... start flexing your VJs because there's another search on the cards this year.

2012 VJ search winner Nomuzi Mabena will be leaving MTV Base soon so MTV will be launching another search to replace her. The search will be for guys and girls and applications are opening in April -we'll keep you posted on how to apply once the deets have been confirmed.

The job description

The winner will become the new face of MTV Base and will host shows on both MTV Base and MTV and will also host red carpet events, interview stars, MC live events etc.

Here's a timeline of the winners of previous searches:

2006

Durbanite Sizwe Dhlomo makes MTV Base history as the channel’s first African VJ.

November 2006

Fikile Moeti from Cape Town beats thousands of hopefuls to be appointed MTV Base’s first female VJ.

2007

Vanessa Mdee becomes MTV Base’s first Tanzanian VJ.

October 2012

Nomuzi Mabena joins the MTV Base talent roster after winning a nationwide search for new talent.

October 2013

Sandile Ntshingila becomes the fourth South African VJ on MTV Base.

2016

for each and every candidate, who is willing and ambisious to be the selected VJ of MTV must be Him/Her Self in order to be spoted by the Judges, hence. everyone is gifted and capable of being the most ideal candidate therefore break a leg, and pre pare good personality and a vibrand charactor during Auditions.. Wow i really can't wait...From mainstream T.V as a Hectic nine 9 presenter to a community tv station, still presenting. I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life n hopefully this is it.

So April has come and gone and there hasn't been a word about it. We've enquired about what's happening numerous times but there isn't a word about it from MTV - they've gone silent! We'll keep you posted.
