eNCA is looking to hire a writer to write news stories for the channel.
The successful candidate will report to the eNCA News Editor and will need to:
- Monitor wire services and news feeds for the latest local and international news,
- Write and produce news stories in a variety of formats,
- Write news crawlers and news boards,
- Turn soundbytes from studio interviews,
- Set up guests to be interviewed during the various bulletins,
- Assist in crafting intros and cues for anchors in studio.
Requirements:
- Journalism qualification,
- At least three years journalism experience, preferably in broadcasting,
- Excellent writing skills,
- Good editorial judgement and interpretational skills,
- An exceptional grasp of current affairs,
- Wide-ranging general knowledge,
- Excellent command of the English language,
- Must be meticulous, accurate and passionate,
- Video editing skills and/or ability to voice news inserts a distinct advantage,
- Ability to work under pressure to meet regular deadlines.
Please note:
The successful candidates will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
