Life for Oscar Pistorius on probation

I can't believe that Oscar Pistorius is going to be released from prison next week and yet I can because that's how the System works.

I'm still feeling very angry and iffy about it all because of how unjust it is. It's impossible to comprehend how he can he can serve 10 months for killing someone and ruining the lives of so many others. Reeva's dad and his stroke... Oscar was directly reponsible for that - he almost took another life and yet he's going free.

They're calling it parole but of course it isn't. It's freedom, pure and simple. I have no doubt that we'll be subjected to 'bloidy pictures of him at nightclubs shortly after his release.

On Sunday night (16 August) Carte Blanche will be looking at what his life will be like on parole and they've made it sound much worse than I imagine it's going to be. This from their description:

Carte Blanche asks what life will be like for the Paralympian as he serves out the remainder of his sentence under correctional supervision? From strict monitoring of his movements by the Department of Correctional Services to media invasion of his privacy and trying to regain society’s acceptance, the road ahead for Oscar is set to be anything but a walk in the park.

So irritating because it makes him sound like a victim. As if the time he's served is enough and now we need to pull out the red carpet for him. Puhlease.

I imagine his life will be quite the opposite. Something along these lines:

He'll get to eat the foods he loves, see the people he loves whenever he wants to and do the things he loves. (which Reeva can't!!) He'll be tucked up in his own bed, safe and sound and he'll have friends over for parties. He'll start working on his book, talk to people about the movie rights and he'll start bulking up his bank accounts.

Justice? NO. Call me unforgiving but I can't help it because justice definitely hasn't been served.

it doesn't mean if you have cash you most be free like Oscar, he should spend he's whole life in prison

So pleasedhis release has been delayed!! And on Reeva's birthday - very trippy and "other wordly".

I've realised that I don't know the difference between parole and probation and probably never will. I've googled both words, looked at various explanations of both terms and they consistently seem the same.
