A note to everyone going to the Cape Town auditions this weekend: the date has changed from Saturday 11 July to Sunday 12 July instead.

 -------

It's that time of year. Time for singers to use their voices to see the world.

Duma Ndlovu's Word of Mouth Pictures (who make Muvhango) are holding their annual Lion King auditions this month and will be searching in three cities this year.

As you may know, Word of Mouth are the official auditionees for the production round the world - they've been involved with the castings for a number years.

The show's been on Broadway for 18 years and is also performed round the world in various countries including the UK (who have two companies), Spain, Germany, Brazil, Australia and the US, who have touring productions.

The upcoming auditions are for all of these companies i.e. if successful you'll join one of the companies in a specific country. Disney insist that there be South African singers in every production round the world.

Audition must-knows

- You need to be between 18 to 29 to audition.
- It doesn't matter how little or how much experience you have. Auditions are open to both professionals and non-professionals.
- What do you have to do to audition? Sing!

Hi there

Is there anything specific you need to bring along (i.e. ID, CV, picture etc.)?

Thank you!

Cool Juliet - good vibes to you both!

Zanda... no, no need to take anything with you - just your voice!

Hi there,

I plan on going to the CPT auditions on the 11th and have a few questions.

Do we need to prepare a piece? How long is the audition process? I don't live in CPT and will only have from 11:00 - 14:00. I worry that I might not have enough time to audition.

Thank you so much

Hey Teano,

You don't really have to prepare anything because they'll probably ask you to sing a song of their choice when you get there, but I would prepare just in case.

Audition process is not longer than 5 minuts usually, and your time slot really depends on the number of people. If you want to be out by 14:00, I would recommend you get there before 8:00 so you aren't very far back in the queue.

It's a pleasure :)

Hi everyone! A heads-up that the date for the Cape Town auditions has changed. They were going to be on Saturday but they've changed to Sunday because of the funeral for Duma Ndlovu's brother. We've updated the details.
