Press Release

Aspiring musicians in PE encouraged to enter the DStv iRock “Battle for the Stage” competition

For the first time ever, DStv is offering Port Elizabeth’s aspiring musicians a chance to compete for an opportunity to be the opening act at the next DStv iRock Music Festival which will take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, 04 April 2015.

Solo artists or bands are invited to enter clips of their performances to be crowned the DStv iRock eBhayi Music Festival opening act.

The prize also includes R5 000 cash, and access to the DStv VIP area - where the winner will interact with journalists and celebrities, as well as an opportunity to be featured on V-Entertainment on Vuzu.

To stand a chance of winning this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as a group and/or individual, all you need to do is provide a short biography alongside a recorded one minute digital clip of your musical performance.

Upload the clip on your own Facebook page and tag @DStv #DStvMusic #DStviRock. Please ensure your privacy settings on your Facebook profile are open for public viewing. Entrants can also send videos with the keyword DStviRock via Whatsapp on 073 546 2766 or SMS to 44899 (SMS costs R1.50).

A panel will then shortlist entries and choose a winner. The competition is open from 12:00 on Friday, 27 February to midnight (00:00) on Monday, 23 March 2015. Winners will be announced on Facebook and in the entertainment section of The Herald newspaper on Friday, 27 March 2015.

Colleen Goodman, Head of Retention Marketing at DStv says, “The iRock franchise has been hugely successful in all the provinces we have been to so far. We are proud to play a role in growing South Africa’s entertainment industry by finding raw talent and giving them a chance to live their dreams via the ‘DStv iRock Battle for the Stage’ competition. It is our way of giving back to our various regions and recognising their continued support to our brand offering.”

“We are delighted to share in the Easter season with eBhayi by providing an electrifying music performance from the country’s finest entertainers,” she continued.

For more information on how to enter the competition as well as the full terms and conditions, please see: DStv iRock eBhayi Battle for the Stage.
