This coming Friday (3 May, 2013) SABC Sport launches a seven province Talent Search which kicks off with auditions in KwaZulu-Natal.
The search has been created by the SABC to find a new sports presenter to join the broadcaster's sports shows and coverage.
The search will culminate in a reality show which will premiere on SABC1 on Sunday, 2 June - the name of the show hasn't been decided yet - we'll keep you posted when it is.
The series will be hosted by
Minnie Dlamini who'll inject her own Talent Search experience into the concept. The series premiere will include a look at Minnie's journey following her big break on SABC1's LIVE Talent Search which
she won in 2010.
Minnie's already started promoting the search and will continue to do as the auditions unfold. She'll be getting to know contestants at the auditions - asking questions, chatting etc.
Who can audition?
- Anyone over the age of 21.
- Word from insider at SABC Sport is they're ideally looking for someone who's passionate about all sports but if you're a soccer specialist they're very interested in you too.
- They want multi-lingual people. It doesn't matter what languages you speak but you need to speak more than one.
How to enter:If you'd like to audition you can simply go along to the audition venue closest to you.
Phase 1 happens on the Friday and Phase 2 happens on the Saturday so you need to be available on both days in case you make it to Phase 2.
Once you get to the auditions on the Friday you'll go through an initial screening/audition in which you'll be tested on your ability to respond spontaneously in the moment.
The sort of activity you can expect to do for this round involves receiving a prop which you'll need to use as the subject matter to talk about or use to entertain the judges. The goal of this phase is to test your creativity, articulation and improvisation skills.
If you make it through this phase you'll move on to Phase 2 on the Saturday.
Phase 2:
For Phase 2 you'll be asked to fill in a registration form which includes photographs of you. You can take photographs of yourself with you to the auditions or you can have your photograph taken at the auditions.
Here's a look at the registration form to give you an idea of what you'll need to fill in:
SABC Sport Audition Registration Form.
When you've completed your form you'll go through to the next audition in which you'll be interviewed by the judges.
You'll also have to entertain the judges during this pahse. Tasks you may be given include being asked to entertain the judges for 1-minute and/or to do a sales pitch of yourself in a minute.
