e is looking to hire a News Anchor for their Cape Town news room.
Reporting to the Managing Editor your key performance areas will include:
- Present current affairs programming live on air or prerecorded in studio
- Present live on air news bulletins from the studio
- Present special news events live on air from location
- Arrange and prepare for interviews
- Brief cameraman and interviewee on topic beforehand
- Check archives for specific identified news items
- Check electronic media (wires), articles of interest in newspapers and study International media
- Conduct on air or prerecorded interviews with studio guests when required
- Conduct preliminary telephonic and follow-up on interviews
- Direct editor to cut pictures according to storyline
- Identify stories through research and networking
- Screen functions, events for possible newsworthy items
- Write and crafting intros for news inserts
- Doing voice over as and when required
Requirements:
- Should have at least 3 years broadcasting experience
- Good general knowledge, thorough understanding of South African politics and players involved
- A developed culture of reading and news sense
- Ability to develop story ideas
- Good editorial judgement and interpretational skills
- Good understanding of the visual medium
- Computer Literacy
- Excellent command of the English language
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Work to strict deadlines and display initiative
- Be a team player and ability to work with others
