Coming up on 3rd Degree this week:

Episode title: The Rise and Fall of Julius Malema

Broadcast date: Tuesday, 22 November 2011.

Teaser ...

Motor-mouth, populist, rabble-rouser… for a while Julius Malema seemed to be one of the fastest rising politicians - now his political career is on shaky ground.

From when he first broke onto the political scene as president of the ANCYL, he was known to speak his mind regardless of what the consequences might be. And for a while the ANC was only too happy to defend his controversial public outbursts but the relationship seems to have turned sour.

Malema was recently suspended for five years from the ruling party and instructed to vacate his office as president of the ANCYL.

In open defiance, he has challenged the verdict claiming the procedure was flawed and that it was used as a weapon to settle political scores.

Was this a straightforward disciplinary process or the beginning of the succession battle? Is Julius Malema a threat to those who are desperate to cling to power in the ruling party?

3rd Degree takes a look at Julius Malema’s rise to power and the challenges he faces as he fights for his political survival.

3rd degree is on e.tv on Tuesdays at 21h30

I think this will only be on eNews Channel on Tuesday as it is a UEFA night.... You might have to catch the repeat in the morning.
