, SABC2 is bringing back its popular reality singing competition I Want to Sing Gospel
for a second season, premiering on the channel on Sunday 17 July, at 20h00.
The competition, which is the brainchild of music company executive and talent scout Lindelani Mkhize
, kicks off with the countrywide auditions on 1 June, with the aim of showcasing 30 of the best singers for 13 grueling weeks in Johannesburg.
This is where the contestants will have to prove to Mkhize why he should turn one of them into South Africa's next gospel singing sensation.
The music genius and prodigious producer behind the SAMA-winning Joyous Celebration, Mkhize - together with his panel of weekly guest judges - will be faced with the difficult task of searching for the next gospel star.
The show will once again be hosted by renowned gospel artist Thabo Mdluli
The first season of I Want to Sing Gospel saw Durban-born Lungisani Ntuli
walk away with R100,000 in cash and a recording contract with Lindelani Mkhize Entertainment in 2008.

To qualify for the audition, contestants must SMS the Name of the City they would like to audition in, which are (Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Mpumalanga, Johannesburg and Durban), followed by your Name, Surname and ID number to 34709.
Contestants need to use these codes for the city they'd like to audition in:
CT for Cape Town
JHB for Johannesburg
DBN for Durban
PE for Port Elizabeth
Witbank for Witbank//Emalahleni
Contestants will then receive a reference number to confirm their registration.
At auditions, contestants are required to show their reference number together with their green bar-coded Identity Book.

N.B. Contestants who come to the auditions on the above specified dates need to make themselves availables for call-backs the following day.
The winner of this year's competition will walk away with a cash prize of R150,000 (50-grand more than Season 1) and a recording contract from Lindelani Mkhize Entertainment.
