Captain's Match Report!

Written by Brown Shuga from the blog SHUGAS BLOGIWOOD on 18 Apr 2008

On Sunday we watched Sundowns beat a very flat Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus and it was a sad day. For some of us it was a double blow because even the Celebrity Ladies team that played before the guys lost 2-1 to Sundowns.
To all the people who are saying the gals are bringing the guys bad luck, well, my answer to that is maybe the two teams should "camp" together ...that might just do the trick! lol

Seriously though, things are getting better and better, the team is starting to gel and the gals are starting to grasp the basics of the game (lol @ me being serious) so yeah, I'm positive that we'll win the next one. Hopefully it will be against ORLANDO PIRATES!
Come on now Bucs, we all know it's only a matter of time till you do this coz you know how it goes, Chiefs sets the trends and wena le Bafana ba Style just follow. LOL

Check out the match report on the Kaizer Chiefs Website HERE.

Back  Row L - R: Kemiso Motaung (KC), Zukisa Matola (Generations), Winnie Modise (Generations), Kelly Khumalo (Rhythm City), Tshidi Mholo (Malaika), Brown Shuga (TVSA), Zinzi Zungu (SABC 3 Presenter), Penny Thloloe (Choreographer)
Front Row L - R: Ntombi Ngcobo (Singer, Amaponi), Hlubi Mboya (Isidingo), Zama Ngcobo (SABC 1), Thabile Maphumulo (Ghetto Ruff),

There were a couple of changes to the team, we really missed our top 2 Strikers, Bonang (who was celebrating Slikour's Bday) and Chomee (who arrived very early for our next game) but I must say our new acquisitions, Hlubi Mboya (Isidingo) & Ntombi (Amaponi) were outstanding!

Okay, besides the fact that I think we wuz robbed by Downs for fielding 2 former Banyana Banyana players (I think), it was another fantastic game.
No catfights, no bitching, these ladies are way too normal for them to be classified as celebs man.
Actually, I'm getting worried, the only reason I haven't been doing the usual weekend gossip roundup is because there are just NO hectic celebrity gossip stories in the tabloids! I mean, there is only so much "Arthur" one person can take and he's been in the papers every Sunday for the past 3 months! Mzansi celebrities are behaving and as good as that is, it's also CRAP, what are we supposed to blog about? Them being on their best behaviour and playing soccer on a Sunday?? Okay then, here we go....

Our newest acquisition, Hlubi Mboya proving to the coach that the R5 transfer fee was worth it.
Welcome to the team Hlubi!

Hlubi & Motshabi Vilakazi (Yeah, Tso's ex) chasing after the ball.

As you can see, Zama meant business. That woman facing her looked very scary though and we all had no choice but to stay out of her way when she had the ball.

I guess it's a KHUMALO thing coz hay' shem, say what you wanna about her, ok'salayo "Sunay" rocks this thing.

Behind me is Kemiso and most of her team mates would much rather have her as an in-law than a team mate! (Wassup Chomee!) LOL

Winnie being the clown that she is....eish Mlamu wami bathong!

This time our fab gal of the match was definitely Choreographer  Penny Thloloe, who could teach Bafana Bafana goalies a thing or two about the art of goalkeeping.
Romy Titus on the left, can't help but shake her head at how awesome Penny is.

Kelly "Shuffle" Khumalo making them eat dust....

After the game, the gals got together for a group picture.
I don't recognize half the people in the Sundowns team but here's the squad as per Amakhosi site:

Nomsa Maseko (Singer gushesh)
Dipuo Maloi (Singer gushesh)
Lalla Hirayama (Actress and dancer) (Definitely not there)
Carly Field (One gospel presenter) (Eish, mini Mark Batchelor, ek se)
Zeena Isaacs (Rugby Analyst)
Geraldine Pillay (100 & 200 m Sprinter) (I'm still recovering from the ankle injury madam)
Phuthi Kgomo
(Yfm DJ) (Nice gal)
Lebo Motsoeli (SabcSport presenter)
Karabo Masedi (Model)
18. Gloria Brown (Sabc Sport presenter/ commentator) (Hhhmmmm)
Precious Tjou (Singer gushesh)
Unathi Nkayi (Metro Fm DJ) (She was too much trouble whenever she had the ball)
Ntokozo Maseko (Move journalist)
Nosipho Lukhele (Psychologist)
Tebogo Selepe (Singer gushesh)
Rosette (Model)
Amanda Du-Pont (Actress)

Zooming in on the Downs players....
...umm, Unathi love, that's the Kaizer Chiefs sign.....lol

A Big Thank You to all the gals for their time, it was really fun! Except when Sundowns made us wait forever for the food!

Hhhmmmm, Do you think Patrice paid the Sundowns gals? M-R . M-O-T-A-U-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mokgotsi c'mon on! Things are not as bad as they seem...This was our first loss in 4 games (PSL), and we won our last game 3-1 remember? Sundowns were just a better team on the day, we'll get back to our winning ways.
If we can just win the remaining 5, we're good. FAITH!

Unathi is a Khosi fan but she said on Monday since Chiefs didn't ask her to play for their team, then when she was approcached by Sundowns she saw no problem in that.
and ya BS, according 2 Unathi, daddy Motshepe did pay them. Gosh i have to come up with a business proposal for that man. i need some of that money.

Sobza
18 Apr 2008 04:25

Why were you playing in an empty stadium Shuga? Where were the fans or did you played the game at 8 in da morning?

maddie
18 Apr 2008 04:27

Shuga do you only play with celebrities from these big soccer teams?

the reason why I'm asking is that we have a ladies soccer team here at work.

please let me know.

Ngqesta
18 Apr 2008 04:35

of cause Unathi is a die hard Chiefs fans (from what I hear), I was rather suprised to see her playing on the Downs side.......see....once a chiefs fan, always a chiefs fan, hence her natural instinct was to pose with the Chiefs sign and not Downs

Feza
18 Apr 2008 05:24

so are these people getting paid to do thid? how much?

Kakapana
18 Apr 2008 07:05

Feza, according to Unathi Mr Motshepe paid them, i don't know though about Mr Motaung, although i seriosly doubt it.
Good question Sobza...LOL

Nice gals, so do you guys meet for practice sessions before matches

What a good way to keep in shape....running for 90 minutes in the pitch whuuuu.......

poshspice
20 Apr 2008 01:44

okay, let me rephrase my question, do you practice every week like big soccer teams or .....practice just before a match since you don't play often

Brown Shuga
20 Apr 2008 11:48

<<niyaroca en when is the sabc broadcasting da game it wil be great to see it on tv. >>
The game won't be televised on SABC but there will be highlights of it shown on KC WebTV ( www.kaizerchiefs.com )
There were also cameras from The Sky Is The Limit , Sundowns' TV Show on Supersport 3 so I'm sure there will be highlights of the game & interviews with some of the Downs players there.

I honestly wonder why Chiefs is the only big team with no TV SHOW? Sundowns, Pirates & Supersport have got, kanti yini Makhosi?

<<Unathi is a Khosi fan but she said on Monday since Chiefs didn't ask her to play for their team, then when she was approcached by Sundowns she saw no problem in that.>>>
Okay, if that's true then we'll definitely buy her from Sundowns. It's not about money Una, it's about game time. lol Even the Sundowns Ladies Team has loads & loads of players which translated into substitutions every 5 minutes.... Hhhmmm, now I know why we lost!!!!!!!!!!

<<Why were you playing in an empty stadium Shuga? Where were the fans or did you played the game at 8 in da morning?>>
Our game started at 12:30 whereas the boys were scheduled to play at 15:30. As it is, there is aready an issue that soccer fans get to the stadium late for the 15:30 game so trying to get them to come that early would be a mission and a half.
Besides that I don't think anyone went out of their way to promote the ladies' game so that's another reason why.
It would be nice for the gals to play in a packed stadium but it would be damn intimidating. Imagine being booed by those guys...or them asking you to be substituted? Hayi no, sorry ng'yabonga!

<<Shuga do you only play with celebrities from these big soccer teams?>> No, our first game was against a VODACOM/SAIL team so I guess they would welcome a team, am not sure. Please send me an email and I'll get you in touch with the organisers.

<<BS Why u didnt tell us about this one or i didnt hear?>> I'm sorry love, will definitely advise you of the next game. I didn't get a chance to blog about it, I wanted do.

<<okay, let me rephrase my question, do you practice every week like big soccer teams or .....practice just before>>
With the first game, there was not practice, but there was one training session at the Chiefs Village before the Sundowns game.

<<What a good way to keep in shape....running for 90 minutes in the pitch>>> Our games are 20 minutes per half. (40 minutes game)

<<<I cant see the pics,,,!>> Sorry bout that, will upload on Facebook for you.

Yours in Love & Peace
