TVSA Interview: 5 Questions To Dilana

dilanaI've been so mega commited to Dilana throughout Rockstar that there's noo ways I could let the season be over without having a chat to her.

The way the show ended on Monday night made the need to talk to her even more urgent so I was thrilled when I hooked up with her yesterday to see if she's okay. Here's what she had to say:

Tashi: Many congrats on doing such a kickbutt job! I¹m a bigtime fans of yours, literally, it¹s very difficult to express just how blown away I¹ve been by you in Rockstar. The only way of explaining is to say that only two singers in the world exist for me - Christina Aguilera and you!

Dilana: Ha ha!! That's cute! Moerse dankie bokkie!!

Tashi: I only wish South Africa could have been part of the voting process - if we had you would have won without a doubt.

Dilana: I technically won! Vote wise, I had the highest votes on finale night. As you will see, I am the only one sitting on that last show but the boys picked Lukas. So even if SA was in on the voting, it wouldn't have made a difference. Thanx for that though!

Tashi: Which brings me to the fact that you didn¹t win. My take on it is that you didn¹t win 'cos you¹re too good for Supernova and would have upstaged them if you were in the group. Do you agree?

Dilana: I don't think that was their fear at all. They've been around for a long time and Tommy especially, has a huge name and reputation ... I don't believe that he was threatened by me. I believe that they all saw a bigger, better future and career for me. They wanted a guy and felt that I was a star without them. I thank them for that.

Tashi: What you had to say about other contestants created lots of controversy in the show - do you think this impacted on you not winning? If you were to do everything again would you have the same things to say or would you change the script?

Dilana: I wouldn't change a thing! Although, I did learn a few things about "do says and don't says" when dealing with journalists. I am and was then, always myself!

As far as the whole drama being a deciding factor and why I wasn't chosen for the job application, it definately made some impact on the voters (hence being in the bottom 3 for the 1st time the following week) but ... I don't think the judges took that into consideration when they were making their decision. Tommy Lee spells controversy for God's sake lol!!

Tashi: At the end of the show you were offered an album written and produced by Gilby Clarke - did this happen?

Dilana: Gilby and I worked in his studio. He produced Ring Of Fire for me and also asked me to sing a track on his solo album, one of his tunes called Black.

As far as an album, I was very honored by his' offer but decided to work with various people to decide hat would be best for me in the end. We remain good friends. He actually lives a mile from me and we often ride our motorcycles through the beautiful California canyons on Sundays! I have a special place in my heart for Gilby. You can downlaod 4 songs (incl. Ring Of Fire) from myspace.com/dilanarox or on I-tunes. The album will be out some time later this year!

Tashi: After Supernova finished you did a lot of touring with Magni you went to Iceland with him and even won an Icelandic Grammy at the beginning of the year. How did it happen that the two of you hooked up specifically?

Dilana: We're hoping to do a world tour together later this year. SA is definately on the route!! Magni actually won the grammy for a concert that I performed on. We became soul mates and bestest friends ever during the show. That has not changed.

I love Magni as a person and dear friend and musically we're one! I'm watching him over the internet right now! He's in Denmark in the studio recording his solo album. God bless modern technology!
