Season 3
WWP Thunderstrike is a South African professional wrestling sports series created by Mark Beale and Mike Msizi and produced by Urban Brew Studios which is heavily influenced by American mainstream wrestling, which features a number of professional wrestlers competing for a variety of different titles.
The series premiered on SABC2 on Saturday 11 December 2004, at 14h30. In June 2008 the show signed a five-year contract with SABC2 to produce over 50 episodes a year until 2012. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 3 aired on SABC2 from 1 November, 2006 to 27 February, 2008, on Wednesdays at 22h00.
Season 3 Synopsis
SA's professional wrestlers do battle in this third season of WWP Thunderstrike entitled Ignite.
In a 15-episode clash that takes place in the Dome of Doom, South Africa’s wrestlers fight it out to be the World Wrestling Professional champion while protecting their clan’s honour.
The strife between Alkebulan and DeFaxtion has reached boiling point and The Chairman's in the centre of things, making sure it gets hotter. Last season Def Faxion brutally beat Alkebulan and had its members slither out of ring. It was a landmark humiliation as Alkebulan were forced to suffer defeat for the first time which left them fuming.
Alkebulan is fuelled by revenge but will this be enough to topple the young punks of DeFaxtion who’s members are still basking in their prior victory?
Both sides have trained an average of 40 hours a week for the clash. They've been fitness training, power lifting and practising new cunning manoeuvres under their trainers Mark Beale for Alkebulan and Butcher Bruce for DeFaxtion.
Says Beale: “Alkebulan is good to go and very motivated to slap the young wrestlers back into place. They are fit, agile, powerful and willing to do whatever it takes to win back the title.”
Says Butcher: “It is going to be a brutal battle and hard season to retain the title. We know the fuddy duddy’s are angry because they lost. Their ego’s are bruised and this makes them dangerous, but we have no fear as DeFaxtion is in Olympic shape and will enjoy playing footsie with Alkebulan."
