Season 4

The O.C. - also known as Orange County, California - is an idyllic paradise, a wealthy, harbour-front community where everything and everyone appears to be perfect.

But beneath the surface is a world of shifting loyalties and identities, of kids living secret lives hidden from their parents, and of parents living secret lives hidden from their children.

The O.C. tells the story of the Cohen, Cooper, and Nichol families, and Ryan Atwood, a troubled teen from the wrong side of the tracks, who is thrust into this world and who will forever change the lives of the residents of The O.C.

When the philanthropic Cohen family take in outsider Ryan Atwood, they have no idea how his presence will effect them.

Their awkward adolescent son, Seth, finds a friend and brother in Ryan to share his quirky way of looking at the world and to help him overcome the trials and tribulations of winning the heart of Summer Roberts, his lifelong crush.

Following on from Season 3, the series continues to follow the characters' lives in the wealthy community of Newport Beach, Orange County, California.

High school seems like a distant memory to the young graduates at the centres of The O.C., particularly because they have been thrust into adulthood after the death of their beloved friend Marissa Cooper.

The Cohen’s struggle to keep Ryan focused on the future, fighting the forces that threaten to pull him back into his old life.

Having left Orange County, Summer attends Brown University in Rhode Island, where she has reinvented herself as a left-leaning, tree-hugging activist.

And, lonely in Orange County, Seth works at a local comic book store.
