Charles Sobhraj: The Serpent

Charles Sobhraj was a serial killer who preyed on Western tourists throughout south-east Asia during the 1970s. Nicknamed ‘the Serpent’ for his skills at deception and evasion, he allegedly committed at least 12 murders. In 1976, he was jailed in India for 21 years, but managed to live a life of leisure in prison. He retired as a celebrity in Paris, until his unexpected return to Nepal, where he was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment on 12th August, 2004.
