e.tv is looking for a publicist to join their publicity team.
Reporting to the Head of Publicity your key performance areas will include:
- Responsible for the portfolio of shows including: Scandal! and selection of other productions
- Writing publicity material for portfolio of shows including: features for e.24 SEVEN, Website, Press releases, Press kits
- Establishing professional relationships with key media
- Pitching feature ideas to journalists - verbally and electronically
- Updating media database with new contacts/publications
- Updating Press boards
- Dealing with media requests for interviews and pictures
- Sending publicity material to media and following these up
- Establishing and maintaining key relationships with key groups such as producers, actors and other staff associated with shows in your portfolio
- Distributing event invites - either electronic or physical
- Collating RSVPs from media contacts
- Putting press packs together
- Monitoring website material for shows in your portfolio
- Acting as traffic controller by submitting (supplied) fresh copy from shows in your portfolio
- Working closely with photographer helping facilitate episodic and other photo opportunities
- Communicating and submitting weekly stat reports
- Assisting with the preparation of strategic and tactical plans for shows in portfolio
- Assisting with events held by the department
- Assisting the JHB senior publicist where required
Requirements
- Degree / diploma in journalism or public relations
- Worked in Journalism and/or PR for at least 3 years
- A track record of writing for newspapers/magazines
- Good writing skills
- Adherence to deadlines and correctness of information is essential
- Creativity
- Good interpersonal skills
- Keen eye for detail
- Need to have a natural understanding of what works visually in print and on television
