eNews is looking to hire a Special Projects Producer for a contract position.
Reporting to the GM: eNews your key performance areas will include:
- Researching key projects assigned to you
- Organising and facilitating live broadcasts on location
- Overseeing live and pre-recorded programming around the projects
- Liaising with Government, interest groups, companies and individuals associated with the project
- Clearing the rights of material used in broadcasts
- Producing reports, rundowns and broadcast plans
- Holding briefings with news teams working on the projects
- Writing scripts, overseeing edits and final production of live and pre-recorded programming
- Maintaining good working relationships with government, political parties, police, emergency services, companies and individuals associated with the projects
Requirements:
- At least 10 years experience working in a news environment
- Work experience in research
- Work experience in logistical/organizational planning
- Thorough understanding of South African politics, including the Apartheid era and history of the liberation movements
- Experience in content producing for television
- Excellent contacts and sources within the political and former liberation movements
- Ability to conceptualize story angles, story ideas surrounding South African politics and political history
- Ability to conceptualize visual inserts
- Ability to work with a visual editor to create news inserts
- Ability to work in a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communications skills
- Willingness to travel
- Driver’s license
- Television/broadcasting experience is a plus
- Tertiary qualification is a plus
Note:The successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
