eNews is looking to hire a sports reporter for their Cape Town newsroom.
Reporting to the Executive Producer: Sport your key performance areas will include:
- Take direction from Executive Producer, Sports Editors and Cape Town sports reporters.
- Work within a team.
- Assist Cape Town sports department in production of sports news.
- Act as runner and production assistant for Cape Town sports news department.
- Identify angles, story ideas and key interviewees for Sports News bulletins.
- Where required, conduct interviews and manage sports news shoots in the field.
- Contribute to writing of scripts for sports news bulletins.
- Work with camera person and video editor on sports news stories.
- Take direction from sub-editors.
- Monitor websites and newspapers for potential stories for Sports News.
Requirements:
- Should have at least 2 years reporting experience.
- Matric certificate.
- Good knowledge of sport.
- Good command of the English language.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Good judgement.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be computer literate.
Note: the successful candidate will work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays.
