I've been thinking about this a lot and I'm 100% convinced that Daniel Craig should never have been cast as James Bond. He doesn't suit the role, he never has - and he seems to know it.
He was on
The Graham Norton Show this week chatting about the release of Skyfall and Graham asked him about the auditions for the role. Graham said something along the lines of: "Apparently you didn't think you'd get the role?" and he confirmed that it's true. As he said it I let out a guffaw because I've always thought the exact same thing.
I've never understood why they cast him. For starters he doesn't have the necessary characteristic glint in his eye. Yes, he's got a good body but there's a particular glint that he doesn't have in his expressions and attitude.
Secondly, and much more importantly, there's another actor who would be
much more perfect who should have been cast instead. He's so ideal for the role it makes no sense that they overlooked him.
James Purefoy:
If you haven't seen him in anything - trust me, he's perfect. He has the glint, he has the attitude, he has the bod, he has the name, he has
everything that's required.
He actually auditioned for the role at the same time as Daniel Craig - in
an interview he said that he thinks he didn't get it because he spent almost 10 minutes telling the producers what he'd do to improve the 007 franchse, ha! There's no doubt in my mind that they should have cast him instead.
And now they're stuck with Craig and Skyfall's being released everywhere. It opens here on Friday, 30 November.
