Just in, this news about Supersport dumping Joost van der Westhuizen from appearing on the channels because of Joostgate. He often presents as a guest to give his take on things and won't be on anymore.
It's ridiculous don't you think? Yes the video was a scandal etc but it's already SO yesterday, plus it's taking the whole sex thing way too seriously. People do much more hectic things and the next day they're still on the box.
Here's the release .... notice how it's all about "allegations" with not a mention of his very bad taste video underwear anywhere:
"Representatives of the management of SuperSport met with independent contractor and commentator/presenter Joost van der Westhuizen today to discuss further allegations which have been made against Van der Westhuizen in the media over the weekend.
SuperSport notes that the recently made allegations differ from previous allegations, in that same no longer emanate from anonymous sources.
SuperSport regards such allegations in a very serious light, but also respects Van der Westhuizen's constitutional right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
His appearances on air are adding pressure to the situation which is not conducive to the allegations being resolved.
In the circumstances, SuperSport and Van der Westhuizen have mutually agreed that it will be in both parties’ best interests if SuperSport does not call upon Van der Westhuizen to render services to it until further notice.
SuperSport has not dismissed Van der Westhuizen."
PS: I forgot about the whole cocaine thing - that's obviously a factor too.
PPS: Just realised - I assumed the new allegations are to do with the video and the stripper coming forward but now I'm thinking there are more allegations that I've missed? The way it sounds he's been doing every possible criminal deed there is.
