LIVE FROM THE RED!...
almost. *half-bedraggled with a broken shoe.*
You have
no idea how I've used my feet getting pics on the Red! I literally ripped the strap from the heel of my wedges - it happened more or less when Miss SA arrived and I went rushing to get a pic to tell you that's she's so
much
longer than she looks on TV.
Miss SA Tatum Keshwar, who arrived in a white, stretch limo.
Saturday night's 3rd SAFTA Awards launched with Red Carpet arrivals at 18h30. The ceremony followed at 20h00 and went on into the early hours of Sunday morning. The shindig was well organised, vibey and glitzy, except the ceremony itself went on for so long the After Party started while it was still on.
There were two problems:
1) Way too many categories, with too many breaks between them.
2) Ceremony/Party Conflict i.e. I didn't know where the best place was to be.
I wanted to be in the ceremony for obvious reasons and also wanted to be outside at the party so as not to miss anything.
Luckily I was sitting near a door and got starving at about 22h30 so I slipped out to see if there was a snack and discovered tons of peeps were already tucking in. I hunger-eyed everyone and went back to finish watching the Awards (with smuggled in chicken pieces) before hitting the party once the ceremony ended at about 03h00 (11h45 real time):
Before everyone arrived the Red was hoovered/dusted.
Nonhle Thema warming up to present the Red
One of the first arrivals, Jerry MofokengMuvhango's Florence Masebe wearing Lebiso, from Melrose.
Shoes from Jerry (I think in that order!)Tanya van Graan in the exact same tattoo as Pam Andrews
RGB's Siyabonga Ngwekazi filming for the show - Kuli Roberts wasn't with. Apparently she was making an appearance at an ANC gig.
RC's Jamie Bartlett and co. arrived in the same stretch limo as Miss SA
Booblicious
Slap of the Night award goes to: the Artcha cameraman for Mood/Scene Kill. He didn't want Red Carpet cameras flashing round the angels while they were filming and chased interested photographers away!
Screeeeeeeams
When Khanyi Mbau arrived the crowd who'd gathered on the outskirts to watch the Red went so beserk you have
no idea. The glitziest thing was that it genuinely wasn't a Rent-A-Crowd setup at all - she could have blown Lady Di kisses for hours and everyone's screaming wouldn't have stopped.
Ad break!
More Red Carpet pics and all the After Party pics -
- coming up in a new TVSA sister site. Launching next Monday!
