After attracting record ratings in the US, the reality show Duck Dynasty is here. It premieres on History Channel this Monday night (20 April) at 20h30 and I'm interested to see it because I don't understand what all the fuss is about.
The fourth season premiere of the show was so popular in the US it literally broke the record for non-fiction TV. It's the most watched episode of a non-fiction show on a cable TV platform.
The series centres round the Robertson family who made their fortune by inventing what they've called a Duck Commander which recreates a duck call to lure ducks for hunting.
Which is what troubles me about the show because I don't believe in hunting when it isn't out of necessity. If it's for necessity and someone needs to hunt to survive, fair enough but if it's for sport then I have
no time for them whatsoever.
The Robertson's have made so much cash from the Duck Commander that I'm sure it must be used for sport too - which will be a huge problem. I also seriously don't like how they shoot into the water in the trailer (see it below). They shoot as if there's no life that lives in the water which sucks. Bigtime! It's definitely going to depend on
why and how they hunt.
The family's described as "Beverley Hillbillies" because of how much money they've made. Which they don't put into their grooming because they look like this:
