Whose Line Is It Anyway? in the TVSA premieres today and wondered about it. Season 9 premieres on Vuzu tonight (10 April) at 18h30 and it's the original series except modernised with a few, very suitable, tweaks.
It's the strangest thing because on one hand it seems as if it's been years since the Drew Carey series and yet it also feels as if it aired yesterday.
What's interesting about the current show and it's changes is that it's been picked up by The CW network (The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liers, The Lying Game). They've bought the rights from ABC who made the show previously.
They've stuck to the original format and the series' three original improv-meisters are back, namely Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles.
Drew Carey isn't back. Which I have no issues with because he used to be the least interesting aspect of the show.
He's been replaced by actress and comedienne Aisha Tyler, who played Andrea on Ghost Whisperer and Agent Lana Kane on Archer.
Another change is the introduction of celebrity players each episode. They used to do this ocassionally on the original series but it didn't happen weekly. In the new version it does. Each week a different schleb joins the actors and gets involved in the scenes.
Some of those we'll be seeing in this season include The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan (Maggie), The Vampire Diaries' Candice Accola and Glee's Kevin McHale.
