The 83rd annual Academy Awards are coming up this Sunday (27 February) at the usual hottspot: the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway are hosting the three hour ceremony which begins with various build-up shows. For the first time this year we'll get to see all of the build-up shows as well as the aftershocks, exactly as they air in the US.
Live on M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 1 HDM-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 1 HD will be airing the ceremony live at 03h30 in the early hours of Monday morning (28 February).
Before it it starts both channels will broadcast two red carpet build-up shows: the KABC pre-show at 01h00; and the AMPAS pre-show at 02h00.
The first is the pre-show by ABC, the headline US network that the Oscars are on.
The second is the pre-show by the Academy (AMPAS = The Academy of Motion Picture Production Company). We've seen this on M-Net before - in previous years it ran for 30-minutes but this year the Academy has extended it to an hour and a half.
The hosts are Tim Gunn (style guru on Project Runway), Robin Roberts (presenter on ABC's Good Morning America), Krista Smith (West Coast editor for Vanity Fair) and Maria Menounos (correspondent for Access Hollywood).
Both these shows will only air
once, with no repeats.
Another added bonus for both channels: each year there are winner Post Shows that feature the winners giving their OMG's on their win after the ceremony. We've never seen these before but this year we will.
These will be on MM1 and MM1 HD on Sunday, 6 March, starting at 17h10. The KABC Post Show will be at 17h10 and the AMPAS Post Show will be on at 18h40.
E! Entertainment
E! will be doing their usual Ryan Seacrest/Giuliana Rancic thang: Live From Red Carpet starts at 01h00 on Monday (28 February).
The Fashion Police will be naming and shaming the who's who on Wednesday, 2 March at 14h30, with rebroadcasts at various times.
On M-Net and M-Net HD
A delayed broadcast of the ceremony will be on M-Net and M-Net HD on Monday night (28 February) at 20h30.
