The Guys And Girls Of Guatemala

Is the Guatemalan government in massive debt? Because this time around, the contestants are going to be living in some Mayan ruins. Yes, the Guatemalan government actually let 18 Survivor contestants live among their sacred national heritage site.

Clearly Mark Burnett now has the clout and money to buy off whole countries’ debts. Just so you’re not surprised when he eventually buys us all off and we all become automatic contestants in his newest global reality series.

Will the ruins be able to handle them clomping about?

Hi, we're the people who are going to be pissing on ancient Mayan history. Literally! Tee hee.

Unlike Palau, this lot of contestants don’t seem to have been plucked straight from a tropical soap opera. I suppose they would be considered more ‘normal’ folk than the endless models and actors of last season, but I swear I’ve seen half of them before. And I’m not just talking about the returning Bobby Jon and Stephenie.

Is it possible that Survivor has finally run out of interesting people to cast and decided to genetically engineer this season’s group by splicing them together from previous contestants? Is that why they all look so recycled? Or is the theme for this lot that they’re all celeb impersonators of semi-famous actors?

Let’s take a look at these strangely familiar people then.

The Cast:

Amy, O'Hara: The Cop Chick

Blake Towsley: The Alleged Model

Bobby Jon Drinkard: That Nice Guy From Palau

Brandon Bellinger: The Firefighter Who's Not Tom

Brian Corridan: The Wannabe Mastermind

Brianna Varela: The Girl Next Door

Brooke Struck: The Other Girl Next Door Who's Not Brianna

Cindy Hall: The Monkey Cruise Director

Danni Boatwright: The Sportsmad Model

Gary Hogeboom: The Cannibal

Jamie Newton: The Actor With Bad Hair

Jim Lynch: The Old Guy Who Builds Helicopters

Judd Sergeant: The Doorman

Lydia Morales: The Cannon Fodder

Margaret Bobonich: The Nurse Person

Morgan McDevitt: The Magician's Assistant

Rafe Judkins: The Gay Mormon

Stephenie LaGrossa: The Legend
