Ncumisa was the fourth person to be voted off Survivor SA. Some felt that she was not strong enough for the team, whereas others voted for personal relationships within the tribe and there were a few people that were a lot closer then Ncumisa and the other tribe mates.

Mark: Hi Guys, welcome to Tribal Council. So it’s been a little while since you’ve been here and I’m sure that tonight it’s the last place on earth that you wanna be. But for purely selfish reasons, I enjoy it because it gives me a time to catch up with you guys and get a feeling about what’s going on in the tribe. Ncumisa tell me about the last challenge.

Ncumisa: Ah what can I say. It was so frustrating trying to get the logs to fit and I think initially we might have been leading because I think we got the first few in and then they just caught up on us and by the time we got ours sorted out, it was too late to get the water in. So it was frustrating and that’s where it went all pear shaped.

Gareth: I must confess I had a totally different idea of how that was going to work and I was pretty stubborn on the way I thought it was supposed to be. I thought all the closed pieces had to be at the end so that the water would be pulled. So I was putting all the pieces the wrong way round because I thought the closed piece would be at the end, so the water wouldn’t run past the hole and out and waste and it wasn’t set up that way. I only realised that after I had been putting a few in.

Mark: Ncumisa, how has the leadership role developed, has somebody taken up that mantle?

Ncumisa: Yes I think it was the day after we were at the last Tribal Council, we sat down and decided to actually have a leader to just pull us together, before challenges to just help us focus you know strategise just to pull the team together and I think the tribe has grown in leaps and bounds since then. That is actually when we started to win.

Mark: Who was elected?

Ncumisa: Jacinda.

Mark: Jacinda, how was that role suited you?

Jacinda: Suited me very very well. I stepped up to the plate, not stepping on anyone’s toes, everyone loves me in that position and you know what, it’s for the better of the tribe that I'm in that position. They all appreciate me in that position, I hope. You know, we did well, we did will. The team just needed guidance in challenges, reward challenges, so that’s what I’m there for.

Mark: Lezel, we have Jacinda who is your appointed leader and you almost atributing the fact that she’s had this great leadership role to two wins in Immunity Challenges. Can you ever afford to get rid of her?

Lezel: Um I think that, I think we were too diplomatic in our approach and I think it works for our team now and I certainly see it working in the future.

Mark: So you sitting pretty?

Jacinda: You know what I don’t see it as sitting pretty. Okay from the beginning what I do, I take everyone’s opinion. I listen with an open heart and I just guide.

Mark: What is really gonna interest me tonight is all this talk of consensus, I want to see what the vote is tonight, because with all this consensus, I’m assuming it’s gonna be unanimous.. Zayn, you famously said to me, I don’t form alliances, I’m not gonna form alliances. Are you still stuck with that?

Zayn: I don’t want to form alliances. I consult people when deciding on how to vote and that’s how I work and that probably discounts against me I suppose. When a few people come to talk strategy with you, you sort of know that you’re in the firing line but I understand that’s how the game works. There’s no hard feelings or ill feelings I have towards anyone in my tribe, but that’s the way the game is played or some people play it, but I don’t coz I don’t want to owe anyone anything.

Mark: Gareth, from where I’m sitting and I’m not isolating anybody else from this. You come across as the all round nice guy not wanting to offend man nor beast nor plant or nothing. What do you base you decision on?

Gareth: There are group of thing you have to base your decision on. Where the group is going as a whole. As you know a couple of people are voting one way or another. You don’t want to end up voting for someone who is going to stay. Then they know you thought about them for a vote. You’ve got to vet on how the day went and right up till the point you write your name down, you weighing up people against each other.

Mark: So as you sit here right now. You’re still undecided?

Gareth: Yeah.

Mark: Jacinda, you undecided?

Jacinda: I can’t say that I’m undecided. I have decided about who I’m voting for tonight.

Mark: What are you basing that on?

Jacinda: Basically relationships that have formed in the tribe.

Mark: So where do you draw the line between relationships and what is good for the tribe and a personal relationship that might developed, Danielle?

Danielle: First we’ve got to think of the tribe and what assets that person can bring to the tribe and looking at the challenges and you know if the person is gonna run or the person is gonna swim and the contribution to the tribe and unfortunately you know relationships. You would tend to stock with somebody that you have a better relationship with coz there is more trust there and I think trust is an essential part of this game.

Mark: Lezel?

Lezel: I need to rely as a team that the people I’m taking with me forward, that I really can rely on their capabilities and their skills and ultimately not have to come to Tribal Council again. Um which is difficult coz personal relationships are also very important to me, especially when it come to trust but I think at this stage of the game, I’ve seen how amazing it is when you have team spirit and how well if everyone just fits in how much of a difference it makes to our morale and to us winning challenges. So for me tonight it will be a vote for team.

Mark: Ncumisa, what is your reaction to a statement like that. Do you agree with it?

Ncumisa: I agree with it 100 percent, because you wouldn’t want to keep someone in the game who you know for a fact would stab you in the back later.

Mark: Rana, it is time to vote. Danielle you up.

Danielle votes.
Zayn votes.
Ncumisa votes.
Ncumisa: You’ve been much nicer to me in the last few days but I still don’t believe a work of it.
Lezel votes.
Lezel: This one unfortunately for the team, I hope that we can talk about this again.
Gareth votes.
Jacinda votes

Mark: I’ll collect the votes.
Once the votes have been read, the person with the most votes will need to bring me their torch and then leave the Tribal Council area immediately.
I’ll count the votes.

Ncumisa.
Danielle.
One vote Ncumisa, one vote Danielle.
Danielle.
One vote Ncumisa, two votes Danielle.
Ncumisa.
That’s two all.
Ncumisa.
That’three Ncumisa, two Danielle.
Fourth person voted off Survivor South Africa, Ncumisa.
You need to bring me your torch please.

Mark extinguishes the fire of Ncumisa’s torch.

Mark: Ncumisa the tribe has spoken.
I know that was a difficult decision for yu and I knewo that you’re a tribe that claims to work with a lot of consensus. It’s gonna be interesting to see how long you can maintain that. Take your torches and head back to camp.

After Tribal Council.
Ncumisa: I didn’t manage to on with Jacinda and Danielle. We got on okay, but there was just a huge distance so to speak. The over riding emotion was extreme disappointment and also telling myself okay put on a brave face when all I wanted to do was burst into tears and say why me why me. But I managed to not do that , so I think it was just disappointment in that I can’t believe it is over.
