Maletsatsi denies having a romantic relationship with Pastor Matlala after Palesa confronts her about catching their almost-kiss. Eddie and Mmadika bitterly end their after-work drinks arrangement after confronting each other about their mutual feelings. Thato confesses to Nadia that the ancestors are punishing Mangi because of a secret she’s been keeping for two decades – that Stan isn’t Mangi’s father. Morongwe feels excluded after she discovers that she’s the only NZH member who wasn’t invited to a New Year’s Day social get together.

Eddie is on the warpath and rejects all attempts to reach out to him. Palesa is still convinced that Maletsatsi is lying to her and accidentally lets slip about Eddie’s Christmas gift to Mmadika. Thato resolves that she must tell Mangi’s real father the truth about his identity in order to appease the ancestors and end Mangi’s torment. Tino thinks Shakira might have a crush on one of the band members she’s going to interview.

Eddie's drinking is getting out of control, and he is begins to stay away from home overnight, to avoid Maletsatsi. Lolo learns from Maletsatsi about Eddie's Christmas gift to Mmadika, and confronts him. Mangi departs for England, and a worried Thato decides that the time is right to finally reveal the truth to the real father. Morongwe's plan to make friends with the staff backfires when Shakira and Nhlanhla become convinced that she is determined to get rid of them.

Alex is frustrated that Morongwe is shirking her responsibility to the twins. Palesa forces Eddie and Maletsatsi into confrontation over the Pastor Matlala 'kiss'. The Scandal! staff are reluctant to speak their mind in front of Morongwe. Thato accuses Daniel of being afraid to face Mangi meanwhile something terrible happens to Mangi.

After Pastor Matlala makes Palesa realize that her mother is innocent of any wrongdoings, she decides to make amends by pledging her support to Maletsatsi. Mangi's injuries are not serious but Thato is still worried that the ancestors will continue to punish him for her sins. Morongwe is encouraged by the fact that the staff seem to like her more, after interacting with her twins at work. Tino re-ignites his passion…

Maletsatsi tells a shocked Palesa the truth about her father. Morongwe's positive transformation earns her praise, all around. Eddie's out of control drunken behavior escalates into aggression. Thato confronts Daniel about their past relationship…

Jay-Jay discovers that Thato secretly visited Daniel the previous evening. Alex insists that Mmadika spend more time with the twins. Lolo is distressed to learn that Eddie is drinking alone. Meanwhile, Mmadika assures Maletsatsi that there is nothing going on between her and Eddie. Morongwe accepts an invitation to join the journos for drinks after work but ends up regretting it. Eddie threatens Pastor Matlala and takes it out on his family while drunk.

Daniel offers to pay for Mangi’s education but he rejects it. Alex offers no support when Morongwe vents about her employees. Pastor Matlala intends to step down from his job, but Maletsatsi disagrees. Thato reveals she is still attracted to her former fling. Mmadika confronts Eddie about his drinking, he isn’t sorry.

Maletsatsi begins to waver in her resolve not to see Eddie, and this infuriates Lolo, who still can’t forgive her dad. Morongwe encourages Alex to take his salary demands to Daniel, which sparks tension between Daniel and Alex. Tino suggests to Alex they enter a business partnership. Daniel aggressively informs Thato that he will be taking a more active role in Mangi’s life.

Morongwe tries to suggest to Eddie that he take some time off. A concerned Mmadika offers Eddie a place to stay, but Eddie rejects her offer of help. Jay-Jay voices his suspicions about Daniel and Thato to Nadia, but she dismisses it and further suggests they all meet up for dinner together. Alex, fired up about the chance to start up a side business venture with Tino, thinks he’s spotted his opportunity when an old NIA buddy phones up out of the blue with an investment opportunity on the stock exchange.

Daniel asks Mangi to reconsider his decision to leave NZH. Tino can’t decide whether or not to jointly buy platinum shares with Alex. Eddie begins to come apart at The Voice newsroom, blaming others for his mistakes. Thato reveals to Nadia the identity of Mangi’s real father. Mmadika’s gesture of asking Eddie to move into her flat is turned around by Morongwe, who thinks her sister wants to have an affair with him.

Pastor Matlala tries to offer Eddie support with his alcohol abuse, but a cynical Eddie blows him off. Palesa and Lolo come to blows when Palesa accuses Lolo of coming between her and Fana. Daniel is furious with Thato for attempting to sabotage his relationship with Nadia. Abigail expresses her skepticism to Tino when she learns that he and Alex have invested money on the stock market.

Nadia is angry at Thato for getting in between her and Daniel. Tino realizes Morongwe knew nothing about his investment with Alex. Nadia refuses to be shut out by Daniel and breaks up with him. Fana urges Eddie to clean up his act, or else the Khumalos are finished. Nadia warns Jay-Jay that Thato and Daniel are keeping something from him. Eddie asks Mmadika whether her offer to take him in still stands.

When Eddie moves in with Mmadika tongues in the newsroom start wagging... Alex and Tino are thrilled when their investment deal starts to show favorable results. Maletsatsi discovers that Eddie has moved in with Mmadika. Jay-Jay confronts Thato about her relationship with Daniel.

Jay-Jay decides to stick by Thato and become active in the decisions made regarding Mangi. Alex and Tino celebrate their stock rise with dinner for the whole family at the new restaurant Bu-Keng, much to Abigail’s disdain. Eddie refuses to take forced leave from work, and Maletsatsi informs him she wants a divorce. Nadia tells Daniel there’s no chance of reconciliation.

Eddie has managed to stay sober for days but the question is, is it too late for his friends and family to have any faith left in him? Jay-Jay pleads with Nadia to try and convince Daniel to tell Mangi the truth. Alex manages to convince Tino to commit even more to their investment, despite everyone else’s reservations. Maletsatsi discovers Tino plays the keyboard and demands he play something for her.

Alex is having second thoughts about the shares he’s purchased, which Shakira gets wind of and warns Tino about. Daniel decides that he and Thato will tell Mangi the truth about who his father is together. Maletsatsi cons Tino and Nhlanhla into helping her sing a solo in church. Nhlanhla notices a hip-flask in Eddie’s pocket, has he been lying about his drinking?

The story of Eddie carrying a hip flask spreads through NZH like wildfire. Daniel plans to tell Mangi the truth at a family meeting but due to work obligation Mangi misses the meeting and almost has another car accident when he skips a red robot. Eddie makes Lolo feel guilty when she doubts his claims of sobriety. Maletsatsi accuses Pastor Matlala of choosing to side with Mmadika over her.

Despite Eddie's assurances that he is staying clean, he ends up drinking when left alone at the office. Palesa decides to put her own needs to one side, so that she can offer Maletsatsi the support she dearly needs. Mangi learns that his reckless actions on the road almost caused him to almost kill Nadia. Alex and Tino's bubble bursts when they learn that their investment has gone belly up.
