To test Shakira's loyalty, Abigail enlists Morongwe to try and talk her out of delivering the gun to Andrew. Thoko returns, oblivious to the fact that Thato is living in Jay-Jay's house… There's chemistry between Maletsatsi and Pastor Matlala and at the same time between Eddie and Mmadika. After spending time volunteering at the orphanage, Palesa starts questioning Maletsatsi about her absent father.

Shakira finally musters up the courage to deliver the illegal gun to Andrew. Thato tries to convince Jay-Jay to tell his mother about their affair, but Jay-Jay worries about the backlash that awaits him. When Lolo learns that Maletsatsi lied to Palesa about the true identity of her father, she encourages Maletsatsi to come clean about the revelation. Fana is so taken by Siyamthanda, from the orphanage, that he goes out of his way to buy him an assortment of toys.

Thoko confronts Jay-Jay about spending the night in Thato's room. Shakira and Abigail decide to help Andrew get revenge on Frederic Ngwenya. Mangi starts work at NZH, but it's going to be long climb up the corporate ladder because he's starting from the bottom up. Daniel doubts that the relationship between Thato and Jay-Jay will last. Mmadika and Maletsatsi don't hit it off at the Khumalo family dinner. Jay-Jay shocks Thato with a marriage proposal.

Maletsatsi starts reading to impress Eddie, but she's chosen the wrong book. Thato won't give Jay-Jay an answer to his proposal until he stands up to his mother. Shakira offers Andrew a chance at revenge and a terrible choice awaits him…

Mmadika gets a hint that Eddie likes her. Pastor Matlala advises Maletsatsi to have faith and fix her marriage. Shakira is relieved at having earned Abigail's trust. Thato responds to Jay-Jay's marriage proposal.

Mangi has his hair cut in an effort to impress. Pastor Matlala makes Maletsatsi more dependent on him. Thoko implies that Thato is being unfaithful towards Jay-Jay. Maletsatsi gets caught out at book club for pretending to have read the book pick. Andrew is given an emotional farewell.

Shakira isn't happy when Nadia complains about the quality of her work at Scandal! Jay-Jay suggests to Thato that they elope and interprets her reluctance as a sign that she doesn't want to marry him. Eddie discovers that Maletsatsi embarrassed herself at the book club and didn't tell him about it.

Jay-Jay determines to get to the bottom of why Thato rejected his proposal. Pastor Matlala's absence throws Maletsatsi's world upside down. Shakira's attitude around the office continues to deteriorate, and matters come to a head with Nadia. Palesa decides to track down her father without Maletsatsi's knowledge. Mangi gets a short, sharp lesson on the realities of working in the real world…

Shakira is becoming increasingly erratic and Morongwe decides to deal with her. Thato realizes that she hasn't properly thought through the consequences of dumping Jay-Jay. Mangi finally manages to finish Mmadika's latest research but she keeps piling on the pressure.

Eddie clashes with his wife when she buys the Pastor a new suit. Thoko demands that, after the Lobolo is paid, Thato stay in KZN indefinitely. Fana has tracked down a man who might be Palesa's real father. Tino confronts his mother about her working relationship with Shakira then tries to apologize to his half-sister for refusing her expensive Christmas gift.

Shakira tells Tino to get out of her life. Eddie feels increasingly isolated from his wife and daughter. Thato is desperate to escape from Thoko's clutches. Maletsatsi is shocked when Pastor Matlala reveals his true feelings for her.

Mangi experiences a terrible, grisly nightmare that leaves him totally shaken. Eddie doesn't want a Christmas tree, which irritates Lolo ...but he buys an expensive gift for Mmadika. Maletsatsi tries to avoid Pastor Matlala after his declaration of love. Abigail and Tino are determined to have a "family" Christmas lunch with Shakira, who accepts the invitation and reveals that she's going back into therapy. Jay-Jay finally stands up to his mother about Thato.

Mangi ignores all advice to seek medical attention, and endangers both his life and Fana's. Morongwe refuses to celebrate Christmas and turns down Tino's invitation to Christmas lunch, until Alex devises a plan to change her mind. Thoko cuts Thato some slack because it's Christmas.

It's Christmas day and everyone exchanges gifts, however, Maletsatsi is in for a disappointment… Tino hosts a Christmas party but it doesn't end well for Morongwe. Mangi and Thato reconcile themselves to Stan's decision, but Mangi's problems are just beginning.

Eddie and Mmadika verbalise their attraction for one another. Alex looks at establish some peace between Morongwe and Mmadika. Thato wants to invite Stan to her wedding to prove she's moved on. Word of the jewelry Eddie gave Mmadika reaches Fana, who in turn, tells Palesa who insists Maletsatsi should know about it… Thoko suspects that Mangi's problem may be spiritual, not physical. Thato's unnerved when Thoko advises her to take Mangi to an Inyanga.

Tino plans to throw a legendary New Year's party in Newtown. Mangi is diagnosed with anxiety attack but insists on working. Mmadika and Morongwe reconcile but Mmadika throws in last advice. Palesa questions Mmadika about the gift from Eddie. Thato must tell the truth or face losing Mangi.

Eddie tells Nhlanhla to stay out of his business. Lolo suspects something is up when Maletsatsi decides not to attend the church's New Years Eve party. Palesa confesses to Fana that she almost caught Maletsatsi and Pastor Matlatla kissing. Thoko suspects that Thato is not telling her the truth about Mangi and things take a turn for the worse when Mangi has a seizure at the party. Morongwe sets out to prove to everyone that she isn't uptight.
