A six-part drama about dreams, love, clothes and how we all use them to run away from who we are and towards who we should be.
Set in the East End of London, specifically in the creative mealstrom which is Brick Lane, the show stars Lenora Crichlow (Being Human, Sugar Rush) as Ali Redcliffe: an aspiring, hard working talented fashion designer.
Dervla Kirwan (Doctor Who) is Davina Bailey, the queen bee of the fashion world who will do anything to hold onto her crown and is ruthless in her treatment of aspiring and possibly threatening newcomers. She wants to remain the designer of choice for every celebrity.
Also in the lead cast: Michael Landes (Love Soup), who plays Marco a gifted entrepreneur who is determined to make Ali the star she deserves to be.
The show explores these friendships and relationships, the ups and downs, solidarity, chemistry and their entwined destinies that are the fabric of Material Girl.
The show has been produced by Carnival Film. Material Girl is produced by Chrissy Skinns (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl); directed by Cilla Ware (Primeval, All The Small Things), Sarah O'Gorman (Plus One) and Philip John (Mistresses).

From 1900-1914, American culture was primarily influenced by the music and style of ragtime and the blues. The episodes takes an in-depth look at America at the dawn of a new century.
Episode 21915-1929, features the major headlines of the day, including the Russian Revolution and the panic on Wall Street.
The episode also covers the major innovations of the early 20th century, such as the invention of the liquid fuel rocket and the La-Z-Boy recliner.
Also, a look at the most influential film Birth of a Nation and how jazz began to make its mark on the American music scene.
Episode 31930-1939, features the major headlines of the day, including Amelia Earhart's solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932 and her attempt to fly around the world that ended tragically when she crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1937.
The episode also recounts the rise of Adolf Hitler's power and the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby, as well as the major innovations of the early 20th century such as the invention of sliced bread.
