Please note: we originally thought this was the US series Heartland, but it's the Canadian series: of the same name, a different storyline. Season 1 was broadcast on SABC2 in September last year.
A Canadian family drama television series loosely based on the Heartland books by Lauren Brooke and set against the vista of the Alberta Rocky Mountains, which follows sisters Amy and Lou Fleming and their grandfather Jack Bartlett through the highs and lows of life on a horse ranch.
In the Season 2 premiere: Amy comes across an injured wild stallion, which she takes back to Heartland to treat and tame. Lou has plans to turn Heartland into a "corporate equine retreat".
