The first live show of SA's Got Talent aired on Monday night and featured performances by the first seven semi-finalists, who were vying for a coveted spot in the Grand Finale on Thursday night.

After the votes were counted beatboxer George Avakian was revealed as the public's choice, polling the most votes in total.

Then it was time for the judges' choice and they had to pick between guitar supremo Louwtjie Rothman and eight-year-old ballroom dancers Cameron Lombard and Natasha Jacobs.

George Avakian

Randall Abrahams went with Louwtjie, Shado Twala chose the youngsters and the deciding vote was left to Ian von Memerty, who chose Louwtjie as the second finalist.

Both semi-finalists now go through to the grand finale where they will stand a chance of winning R250,000 in Thursday night's show.

It was the last chance for 40-year-old voice coach F.A.I.T.H. (Ndukwana) from Goodwood; 28-year-old physical comedian Jody Kleinhans from Marina Da Gama in Cape Town; teenage hip hop dance crew Roses from Johannesburg; and the traditional dance group Tshwaraganang from Luka, North West Province, who along with Lombard and Jacobs didn't get enough votes to stay in the contest and now pack their bags for home.

The battle for the next two places in the grand finale continues on Tuesday night when a further seven semi-finalists compete in a live show.

Tuesday night's show features dancers, drummers, hip hop artists and magicians, namely Daniel Petersen III & Daniel Petersen; Darren Rajbal; Adino Trapani & Astro The Dinosaur; Cleo Filander; Soccer Mania; Ubumbano and Show Stopaz.

You can vote for your faves each night via SMS or by calling the IVR line.

SMS "TALENT" followed by the number 1-7 which represents the act each night, eg. "TALENT 4". Send the SMS to 34768.

Alternatively, call 083 913 4768 (IVR line) and follow the voice prompts.

Happy with the first two finalists? Or was your favourite knocked out?

LMHO @ Jody bathong....tl tl tl tl tl tl tl. If I didn't have free sms' I would have voted for him, hape he's my home boy, the colored accent made me feel like I was watching some Cape Town live show or something, lol!! I have to say though the guitar guy.................haikhona maan, the young dancers would have been great in that poosition. But all in all great show...pity its coming to an end on Thursday already.

Kodwa uJody uvalele abanye, i was asking myself why was he chosen in the first place, haikhona.  I missed the beatboxers' performance but i'm glad that he's going thru the semis. I luv Anele, she's so relaxed - good presenting skills.

the tswana dancers were bad, die bra van die kaap was a waste. that space would have been used fruitfully by someone else who has more talent than them.

@ Blue rose i think you mean Cleo. i didnt hear most of her words during the auditions SO thats the test. we will see if she makes it through to the finals by being the most voted because she has got some talent. she should meet with Faith for voice coaching.

imagine the Roses group
if all their mothers and fathers and sisters and their extended families voted and their friends from school and their neighbours. i am sure they could have won.
Pity i aint in SA but i would have definetly voted for Faith.

I was rooting for those dancing kids, they do their thing eishh but the girl was nervous I saw her missing the beat and few steps but recovered just fine.

As for the guitarist, he is talented but I don't feel him shem

Faith has a very powerful voice, I hope the recording companies were watching and she deserves a recording deal.

I prefer Jody as a stand up comedian than a dancer.....love his accent

i think Faith was in a wrong show
maybe if there was a singing competion that allows people of all ages, no scratch that up to 50, then she would have had a better chance of phomeleling

she can sing
i was not impressed by her chose of song yesterday, even Shado could not fake tears
