Is it good news? Is it torturous news? Will we make out of a full season alive?!
Only time will tell when the first ever season of SA's Got Talent premieres on SABC2 on Thursday, 1 October.
The channel has confirmed that they've secured the rights to the show and the search for hopefuls is
on. Created by American Idols' Simon Cowell and produced in SA by Rapid Blue, the show calls for anyone with any kind of talent to enter to show it off. Dancers, acrobats, comedian's, speciality acts, magicians, poets, singers, you name it, can enter.
The prize: R250 000 and the opportunity to perform at the President’s Command Performance at the end of the year.
There's no news yet as to what Zumaville's going to command but if you're entering and thinking of doing something Zapiro-like - not
a good idea if you hope to keep the cash!
South Africa is the 27th country to produce the show worldwide - it first premiered in the US in 2006, went to the UK next and has also been syndicated with different names, in "we speak Scandavian" languages.
Of course the most recent worldwide news about it has been the
Susan Boyle Factor and the fact that Angelina Jolie is being pipped to play her in the movie. Too crazy to be legit we know but recent tabloid reports say it's true so it must be :0.
The US series, which is hosted by Jerry "needs a smack" Springer has recently finished it's second season on DStv's M-Net Series channel, with Simon Cowell as one of the judges.
The standard line-up of judges for the US show are: Cowell, David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne (Brandy judged in the first season).
There's no word as to who our judges will be, nor whether Simon will put in a guest meanie appearance. As soon as we hear more news about the judges and the host we'll keep you scooped.
In the meantime, if you're keen on entering, check out TVSA's Casting Calls for all the details:
