Actor Taye Diggs has been announced as the co-star to Kate Walsh in the upcoming pilot of a Grey's Anatomy spin-off, which as yet has no title.
There are no details about what character Diggs will be playing yet, but we reckon he'll look good in a crisp, white doctor's coat.
Diggs first made an impression on TV audiences with a 10-episode recurring role in Ally McBeal, playing super-smooth lawyer Jackson Dupre.
He has subsequently had the lead role in two series that were cancelled after one season: legal drama Kevin Hill and action thriller series Day Break, which ends in the US next week.
He also appeared in four episodes of the final season of Will & Grace, playing Will's boyfriend, James.
The new Grey's spin-off (title it already, so we can stop calling it a "spin-off") will be an expanded two-hour episode of Grey's Anatomy, which will air in the US sometime in May.
It will focus on neonatal surgeon Addison Shepherd (Walsh), who is on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace hospital - a scenario that will happen if ABC decide to pick up the pilot for a full new series.
The pilot is being written by Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes, who is also currently working on another pilot, about female journalists.
The involvement of Diggs in the pilot (and of course the new show, should it go ahead) is the result of a new talent holding deal he signed with ABC TV, who make Grey's Anatomy and Day Break.
Can you Digg it?
