SABC1 drama series Home Affairs has been nominated as semi-finalist in the Best Drama Series category in the prestigious International Emmy Awards, the finals of which will take place at the 34th International Emmy Awards Gala to be held in New York later this year.

The selection was done by a jury of leading media experts assembled from 20 countries from the Middle East, North America, Asia and Europe.

An announcement of finalists to compete for the International Emmy Award prize will be made on 9 October, 2006 at MIPCOM in Cannes.

Earlier in 2006, Home Affairs was also selected along with six drama series worldwide for out of competition screening at the Banff Festival in Canada.

The second season of Home Affairs, the ensemble drama about the intricate web of synchronicity in the human existence, is currently broadcasting on SABC1 every Thursday at 21h00.

Home Affairs 2 continues to focus on women's stories - stories which reflect the diversity of the millions of women found within South Africa.

The International TV Academy is a division of the National Television Academy, the largest organisation of global broadcasters with members and representatives from 61 countries and over 250 companies.

Its mission is to honour and encourage excellence in television programming outside the United States by presenting the International Emmy Award.

The preliminary judging round of the International Emmy Awards took place earlier this year when more than 200 judges comprising television industry experts (producers, directors, executives and distributors) from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (the International TV Academy) judged eight programme categories from comedy to drama, television movie/mini-series, documentary, arts programming, non-scripted entertainment, children & young people and news coverage.

Under the artistic direction of Roberta Durrant, Home Affairs stars Lerato Moloisane, Brenda Ngxoli, Bonnie Mbuli, Sorisha Naidoo, Therese Benade and Nthati Moshesh.

Directors: Minky Schlesinger, Natalie Haarhoff, Catherine Stewart

Writers: Roberta Durrant, Thomas Hall, Rosalind Butler, Lodi Matsetela, Minky Schlesinger, Sasha Clellant-Stokes, Makgano Mamabolo, Andrea Dondolo
