The 86th Academy Awards took place in Tinseltown last night and aired live on M-Net Movies Premiere. A delayed broadcast airs on M-Net tonight (3 March) at 19h30 so if you don't want to know who the winners were, please don't read on.

If you do want to know, read on! ...

Ellen's Oscar selfie which broke the record for retweets. Currently has almost 2.5 million retweets.

Ellen DeGeneres hosted the ceremony for the second time (she hosted in 2009 too) and American Hustle was resoundingly snubbed - it didn't win a thing despite its avalanche of nominations.

The movie was nominated in 10 categories and didn't get a mention. It was a very different story for 12 Years a Slave, Gravity and Dallas Buyers Club.

As you'll see, 12 Years a Slave won top honours for the film itself, as well for actress Lupita Nyang'o and for screenplay writer John Ridley.

Dallas Buyers Club also won thrice and Gravity won a whopping seven categories.

Without further adieu, the winners are:
