Mzansi Magic has put in a second season order of the Connie and Shona Ferguson produced series
Rockville. The channel's booked another 10 episode season and filming for it has just started.
The show stars the couple and centres round two families who are locked in an ongoing feud because of misunderstandings sparked by their different backgrounds.
The series debuted in June this year and attracted an average of just over 200 000 South African viewers per episode across the season, including repeats.
The series showed a notable increase in viewership as it unfolded. It premiered on Wednesday, 19 June with an average of 144 725 viewers and pulled in 265 669 viewers for it's finale on Wednesday, 21 August.
What will the figures do for the new season? Will they start as strongly as the season ended? Word from insiders is that the new season will be dealing with spoken and unspoken obligations within families. The show will be posing the question: do the sons and daughters bear the sins of their mothers and fathers? The season premieres in 2014.
Here's a close-up on the viewership figures (by SAARF) for Season 1:
As you browse the ratings, please note ...
- The figures reflect South African audiences i.e. they don't include DStv viewers from other countries.
- They reflect the National Universe and are calculated in the same way as the weekly Primetime TV Viewing Figures.
- They represent the standard currency of adults (15+).
