SABC3 has confirmed that Mark Burnett's anticipated
Expedition Impossible will no longer premiere on the channel while M-Net have confirmed that they've scooped the rights to it for a February 2012 premiere.
The series was scheduled to debut on SABC3 on Monday, 14 November and has been a no-show for the past two weeks, despite continued promos for it. As reported on
TV with Thinus, the fiasco's a result of trust issues between the SABC and distributors who don't want to supply shows as a result of non-payment by the SABC.
An SABC insider told TVSA that the payment issue isn't in relation to Expedition Impossible specifically but in relation to non-payment for other shows from the past.
According to our source, the SABC paid for Expedition Impossible approximately two weeks ago and weren't informed that there was an outstanding payment from the past that would impact on the supply of the show.
Today SABC3 announced that Season 3 of
The Real Housewives of Orange County will be starting in its place, from this Monday, 28 November.
The channel also announced that the next season of Survivor: Survivor Samoa will be premiering once it ends, on 23 January.
The Amazing Race 15 was scheduled to start in January but the series hasn't been delivered yet whereas Survivor has so TAR has been scheduled to start once Survivor ends. Whether it will or not remains to be seen.
